View Full Version : Hayes Pulls to bar and makes a click, Am I screwed?
My front Hayes HFX 2002 seems to have lost all pressure. It pulls to th ebar and makes a clicking noise. Does anyone have any Idea what' is wrong?
I just finished setting up my bike for my first ride in 2 weeks. any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like a case of to much air and not enough fluid. Bleed it out good and you still have a problem you may have an internal master cylinder leak.
thanks for the advice. I got off the phone with hayes. They think I popped some part of my MC out of place. I'm taking it apart tommorrow.

If it's a distinctive popping, the plastic piece in the MC might be getting stuck in the cylinder body. When it gets jammed, the rounded end of the piston pops in and out of it when you pull the lever.
You probably need the MC piston kit, which should cost like $15 MSRP. And if you're paying someone to do it, probably about $20-$40 labor depending if they've done a MC rebuild before or not.
