New to the world of disc brakes. Always been a v-brake rider. Question about the rotors. If they get bent for whatever reason, tree, boulder, cliff, endo, etc., can they be fixed or should they be replaced. I'm sure fixability depends on the severity of the bend, but can the everyday wrench head fix it or am I screwed? The way I crash sometimes, I could go broke replacing one every time I wreck. Any and all opinions would be appreciated unless you sell rotors for a living.

You can flex out a slight warp, but if they take a big hit you should probably get new ones. That is one thing you really don't want to fail. I saw a bike with a rotor that broke in half, it basically ripped the caliper right off the fork mount.

To be honest, I have found its pretty hard to bend a rotor. Even if ya crash, a lot depends on if its a 6" or 8" but I have 2 8's on my bike and havent had any problems. Occassionally they will warp, I think mine have done it mainly cuz of heat, just take an adjustable wrench, put it on the spot thats bent a SLIGHTLY tweak it back... dont want to bend them a lot though, cuz the metal is brittle and will break.

just find a good shop thatll sell em to ya a little discounted, i have only bent two rotors bad before, but i did em right (right angle that is, one of them looks like a half open taco) all you can really do is replace them becasue it will be near impossible for you to true a rotor perfectly, it will allways rub.
Just bent one of mine and spent about 30 minutes trying to straighten it. It's like when you bend a strip of metal, once it's bent it's almost impossible to get it to bend back in the same place.
It's quite difficult to bend them usually I manage to get all my weight off the bike before the impact and they survive.
