Excuse my ignorance, but the weirdest thing happened tonight
while riding. I was doing a couple of intermediate shuttles on MT. Seymour(N. Van) and everything seemed fine, until half way down
the second run; the front shock(Super T )felt off, I checked it out
right away, and noticed no rebound damping, upon further inspection I raised the front end of the bike, and the stanchions
extended out beyond the normal top out. It freaked me out, and ended my ride. I got home and removed the top caps and upper springs... and I was able to pull both the rods out completely from the stanchions, they had somehow unthreaded from within
the stanchions, I rethreaded or rather screwed them back in as
much as they would seem to go. I then reassembled the preload, and spring, ... and then reset the preload, and rebound where
I liked to have it and the shocks worked great.
The thing that concerns me is HOW did they become unthreaded,
and did my simply turning the rod assembly, thus screwing it back in resolve the problem, or is there something else that needs to be addressed to rectify the problem from occurring again?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
