Just after some cleaning.

I know one of you will ask what's the blue blanket in the background, so I will save you some work. It's Isabelle chilling in the sun (hey I still a little cold in april up here)

I rode some more and I am more impressed with it every time I ride it.

The front disk

I really like the new XTR shifting to my suprise (I still think there was no need to change the triggers). If you use only your middle finger on the brake lever you can use it to push on the lever to shift and you can use the 3 other fingers to push up the lever without moving you hand position one bit. And under heavy braking you can hold the lever with 2 or more fingers and pull it up if you see that there is a big hill coming up. I did not experience undesired shifting under braking but I did not rode tech stuff yet.

The Fox fork is soooo plush but even if I added 3 times more pressure I still find it a little too soft. The 32 mm stansions are soo stiff, I don't notice any flex on heavy braking, it feels great.

The rear ends works better at 175 psi, I found that chain tension locks out the rear pretty well, under heavy pedaling the bike does not bob at all and that is the reason why it sprints so well! on steady fast spinning pace you have to watch your stroke and be carefull of your upper body rocking to avoid bobing.

It is true that the travel seems way more than 100 mm , I did a couple of small drops and I could not tell you when I landed. I can't wait to try this bike in more technical terrain.

now some questions:

How fragile is a carbon post? mine is already very scratched from moving it on the trail. I know I am suppose to wash it before but you can't clean everything when you are playing around with the seat heights on the trails.

I am pretty much sure that I want it at that height, I just need to have the steerer cut and I will also cut the mile long seat post and 1 or 1 1/2 inch of the handlebars. hey I should save presious onces ;)

i wouldn't cut a carbon post......just my opinion though. i would have just shoved a thomson in there and been done w/ it :D but that's a stellar ride man, very glad that you like how it rides so far.

I get goose bumps lookin' at that. I have ordered a black anodized one for the wife which could show up soon.

I'm on a white Superlight with a similar kit. XTR03, same bar but Easton stem and Talas fork, 959 pedals and Thomson layback post and X3.1 rims.

I also didn't use the thumb paddles as my stumpy thumbs didn't reach all that well. I have ridden the new XTR for about a month now and am converted to "low normal" or "rapid rise" as well as the integrated shifting. I find the low normal shifts better into the low gears under power. Upshifting was a bit abrupt at first but I have adapted my shifting style and now its fine. It feels quite natural now and I no longer miss shift.

how much does it weigh?

just curious, my LBS has been pushing some of those out the door, and they were pretty good weight wise. but yours has much lighter parts on it.

I don't have a proper scale but I would say just below 26.

carbon posts break all the time. I am told that there isn't another finer riding seatpost anywhere. you have to be doing something terribly wrong to break it.

another point of interest is NOT to grease the seat tube when installing a post like that. Grease will deteriorate the carbon.
