Had some shrooms this weekend while vegging out in the pool all night. It was very nice. Lots of giggling, no clothes, three bottles of vino, the stars were out, the clouds looked intense (what didnt?), the water felt nice....ah...what a Saturday night. I still have a little bit left but they are losing potency since they are almost 2 years old.

Anyone else like the fungus?

i used to love picking shrooms while on tours mixing bands. It broke up the monotony and picking them in BC and especially the Marritimes where they have the best button caps.....fresh at 5am as they open up to greet the sun. In Jamaica I have been tempted as they grow in the cow fields high up in the hills and are sitting there saying...eat me madman......but it's been like 10 years and i am done with them.

i've tried mushrooms, it's fun stuff, but i prefer Sally D, as i hardly ever have the freedom to trip out for 8 hours at a time. Plus salvia provides a much more intense trip for the 40 or so minutes it lasts (3 deep hits of 20x extract with a 2 ft. bong and a blue-flame torch each held in for 20 seconds)

plus i have a tough time getting hold of mushrooms, i have one friend who can get them pretty easily, but i'd rather spend the money on a fat sack of ganja

A group of us got together, put some coin down, and picked up one of those. It was amazing.

We named it Darth Vapor.

Efficient is an understatement. The week we had got him, we went nuts. It's really easy to take HUGE hits. I'm definitely exaggerating a bit, but it was noticeably more efficient than a normal bong or pipe. In fact, we smoked a girl out for the first time with Darth. She ended up peeing herself.

In a good way.

Sadly, Darth made really good friends with concrete a while ago and he has been out of commission since. We might open it up and tool around, but chances are it's bummed. ;_;

That sounds like a perfect night! I haven't tripped in a while but two years ago I was living in Flagstaff ate some mushrooms with my buddy before a halloween costume party. F'n ripped...I was walking around with ski goggles just giggling.... Good times...

I don't use the freezer at I have heard its no good for potency... So, I store my herbal in two bags inside a ball jar/pickle jar. I put my ball jar in a sealed container that lets no light inside the fridge. Haven't had a problem and I'm smoking some herb right now that is atleast six months old

we have a building called the pink palace near where we live in the middle of a real sweet part of Toronto by the lake. The pink Palace was saved from demo and was designed for abused women as a safe house. Now it houses crackers and tweekers who followed those women and now reside there illegally. The cops do sweeps 3 times a day and they fly out the rear windows like rats. Our neighborhood is *****d up with crime now and it is all down to the addicts raping the system. They lay 1/2 dead in front of our gas station and drug store and in front of the doughnut shop. They all resemble the semi-dead in the above pic[2002]. The smell is revolting.

i despise crack and meth. It ruins lives and kills famillies and everyone they come into contact is directly effected in a negative way financially and mentally.

Nah...My roomie's girl just couldn't keep her sh1t together when she was trippin, ended up running around naked and getting picked up. The cops went in the house to "help her get some clothes" and saw a couple of bongs and got a warrant. I wasn't there at the time and got royally fvcked by the whole thing. I'm now facing "felony maintaining a dwelling" because we smoked herb in our house. This system can eat a dick, if I go down for this I'm screwed for life for having a weed pipe in my own house. Go figure.

Isopropyl Alcohol and rock salt....place piece in ziploc bag with alcohol and rocks and shake shake shake!

Glass does not absorb flavors or smells. If your glass tastes funny after cleaning you're not rinsing it well enough.

I use alcohol, but I don't use rock salt. Just some alcohol and a bong brush. I let stems and bowls soak in alcohol for a while and most of the crap just melts away. :)

If you can find it, the best thing I ever used was a medical product called Uni-Solve.

It's saturday night and im stuck working on some philosophy hw but at least Im smokin a blunt of some heads to get me through



I've been working on a freehand map of the world with 200 physical features on it and I'm using the same strategy to get through it. Bongs of funk got me lifted.

I was just driving along....

...the Autobahn in pouring rain in the dark last night in my trusty VR6 when suddenly both my windshield wipers stopped working; i don't recommend it. Anyway, i made it out of there alive somehow, even though i couldn't see sh!t. Faced with leaving my car there and a train ride home, i took a little detour and visited our lovely neighbors to the west.

Mexican Monster Haze: Never heard of it, and it was quite expensive, but it is oh so good. Definitely one of the better strains i tried.

After two straight months of daily diggity destruction, I seriously need a break to reset my atomic clock. Weird...I went for many years without a break in the action but now that I'm on the downward slope of my 30's, less seems more and has a greater sustained cumulative effect. You're right though man. Much of the southeast is $50 beasters at the very best. If you know the right people, there's dank cheeb to be had anywhere, but its slack as hell for a lot of the east coast. NC has goods, mostly coming from the mountains or out west. SC and a lot of the piedmont in NC often has weak product. Asheville and the high country (THC baby) are nice, but we still aren't getting the price cuts that cali, oregon, etc are seeing. I can't get the dank for less than $50 an eighth around here, and that's just how things are until the government follows the lead of the west coast and lightens up on penalties for growing and distribution.

I recieved a speeding ticket a couple months ago and the cop smelled weed in my car, i gave him the empty bag which was all i had. i live in nevada this was on a trip to mammoth. California law states that a maximum penalty of a $100 fine can be imposed, and that those under the age of 21 can also lose their liscense. I've never heard of anyone losing their liscense when getting caught in california, just wonderning how likely that is.. ? anyone think thats a possibility?

We were making some brownies at a friends house, and we had a 1/4 on the stove in oil. His parents came home unexpectedly in the middle of it. We only had the oil going for 15 minutes on low heat, until we had to take it off. It is now sitting in a jar, waiting until we can finish. I have heard that if u let the oil sit for a week with the pot in it, in a dark place, then it does the same thing as heating it on the stove for long enough. How long will we have to wait till of the THC has been realeased? or do we have to heat it again? What should we do?

I bought a very large bag of the High Times canabis cup winning ganja 2 days ago ....pineapple skunk.....Orange Hill. Another large black bag from Mt. Airy that has no seeds and smells like sugar coated berries and has a slight pepper taste. They said it's white widdow....highly doubt it.....nice morning smoke.

the riding here in Jamaica is the best. The back roads are like brocken corral/lave and the man made surfaces are rare. Purrfect for mtn. biking.

ATLANTA -- Georgia retailers soon will be banned from selling candy flavored to taste like marijuana to children.

Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue signed a measure into law Wednesday that bans the sale of "marijuana flavored products" to minors -- anyone under 18 -- and calls for a fine of up to $500 for each offense.

The measure takes effect July 1st.

It targets businesses that sell the candies with drug-inspired names such as "Kronic Kandy" and "Pot Suckers."

The law says the candies promote drug use.

Senator Doug Stoner pushed the bill in the senate. "I don't think that folks are aware this is going on," Stoner told Channel 2 in April. "It's mainly, from what I can tell, particularly targeted to minority communities."

State Representative Judy Manning said she was shocked to receive death threats over the bill to ban the candy. "Some people think their rights are their rights," she said.

Manning said the Georgia Bureau of Investigation traced her e-mail threat to Great Britain. “You just deal with those kinds of folks and do the best you can. But it sends the wrong kind of message to kids.”

Vote Hemp, a national organization that promotes the use of hemp products and tracks legislation, says the measure would make Georgia the first state to ban the sale of the candy to minors.

Dutch marijuana coffee shops brace for smoking ban

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands - This city's famed marijuana bars have weathered many challenges over the years and are still smoking. But now they face an unwelcome blast of fresh air: On July 1, the Netherlands will be one of the last European countries to ban smoking in bars and restaurants in compliance with EU law.

The Health Ministry says the ban will apply to cafes that sell marijuana, known as coffee shops. But this being Holland, which for centuries has experimented with social liberalism, there's a loophole: The ban covers tobacco but not marijuana, which is technically illegal anyway.

But that still leaves coffee shops and their customers in a bind. Dutch and other European marijuana users traditionally smoke pot in fat, cone-shaped joints mixed with tobacco.

"It's the world upside down: In other countries they look for the marijuana in the cigarette. Here they look for the cigarette in the marijuana," said Jason den Enting, manager of coffee shop Dampkring.

Shops are scrambling to adapt. One alternative is "vaporizer" machines, which incinerate weed smokelessly. Another is to replace tobacco with herbs like coltsfoot, a common plant that looks like a dandelion and that smokers describe as tasting a bit like oregano.

But most shops are just planning to increase their sales of hash brownies and pure weed — and are hoping the law isn't enforced.

Michael Veling, owner of the 4-20 Cafe and a board member of the Cannabis Retailers' Union, said he expected a small decline in sales as smokers are forced to separate their nicotine addiction from their marijuana habit.

But he expects the long-term effects to be minimal. "It's absurd to say that coffee shops will go bankrupt in the second week of July. Nonsense," he said.

Veling is instructing his staff to send tobacco smokers outside, but he doesn't expect all coffee shops to do the same. He said some owners will ignore the ban — and will probably get away with it, at least for a while.

But "if obeying the smoking ban becomes a condition of renewing your business license, just watch how fast it will happen," he said. "That's the way things work."

Chris Krikken, spokesman for the Food and Wares Authority, charged with enforcing the ban, said his agency won't be targeting coffee shops in particular.

"For the first month we'll just be gathering information about compliance in a wide range of hospitality businesses. Depending on what we find, we may focus more squarely on a sector that's lagging," he said.

But he said individual businesses caught allowing customers to smoke will be warned and definitely checked again. "Repeat offenders will face escalating fines," he said.

Marijuana possession is illegal in the Netherlands, but smokers are not prosecuted for holding up to 5 grams. Around 750 cafes — half of them in Amsterdam — are licensed to have up to 500 grams in stock at any one time.

The Dutch "tolerance" policy recognizes that some people will smoke pot regardless of laws, so it might as well happen in an orderly way. Critics complain this encourages substance abuse.

But cannabis abuse in Holland ranks somewhere in the middle compared to other nations and is lower than in the U.S., France and England, according to statistics compiled by the United Nations' Office on Drugs and Crime.

At the same time, the levels of THC — the main active chemical in marijuana — have soared in the past decade and are now at 16 percent in Dutch weed.

The U.S. government sounded the alarm earlier this month because THC in American marijuana has doubled to 9.6 percent since 1983, and it warned of recent scientific findings linking the drug to mental problems.

The Dutch government, currently led by a conservative coalition with a religious bent, is slowly squeezing back the number of coffee shops by not renewing licenses when shops close.

Growers are arrested, leaving coffee shop owners struggling to obtain their main product.

Both of the ones I mentioned would have been perfect for you. Those near Centraal Station or in Nieuwmarkt tend to be more like techno honky tonks than any place you'd like to actually chill at. Lucky Mothers downstairs area is kind of like a typical hippy hangout with big comfy couches, bean bag chairs and low tables. There is one called Grey Area just East of Prisengracht and NW of Dam Square that is "Americanized" and has excellent quality product...especially the Grey Mist kif. Prinsengracht was where I usually went after hitting up Grey Area because there is a GREAT pannenkoekenhuis right there on the East side of it near the Anne Frank Museum. Jordaan is where to go when you feel like drinking liquor and meeting regular people other than 'heads. For beer, the Heineken Museum and Belgian Beer Bar(near Opera House NW of Heineken) are must-dos. I'm still bummed that I don't get to go again this Fall as originally planned. :plthumbsdown:

I think it has more to do with the guys in charge of the city. Right now I would be more afraid about RL District than pot(joints) in Amsterdam.
I live near and i passed 2 CShops yesterday. I am pretty sure (all thou i had some wine ;) that it was smogged as usuall it is not Amsterdam thou.

oh wow the pot thread. i nearly forgot about this. anywayse i enjoyed the comments about beer and they have lead to a new discovery. Apparently aside from all the regular hemp lagers i have had there is actually weed beer. It gives you a weed buzz and is available for $15 a bottle in amsterdam at the cafes. I have been looking for related web sites that mention it but haven't found out anything. I just heard about it from a friend who went to amsterdam.

the latest most phenomenal weed i have has eluded me for a year. it is on my list of course, CHEESE. It was a new frontrunner in amsterdam last year and i heard about it from a roomate who went there. It was being entered into the cannibus cup for the first time. Anyway he got his hands on it and tried it and told me about it and its 3 layers of smelly orange funkiness. Well seeds were not available in Canada this past spring for cheese because it was so new. I nearly got someone who was going to amsterdam to send me some seeds of it. It didnt pan out but someone else made sure they had it last spring and now just after harvest time I have it.

So I took a picture of it today as I have saved this bud i have for half a month, best for last you know. This is my thanksgiving weed that i have so specially hidden away from prying eyes until now. I planted it in my glass bong which i will also unveil. Stay tuned for when I upload it this evening.

I had more of this cheese weed which i have sampled. It makes me cough my lungs out but holy crap it hits me for hours. I kid you not, it tastes just like the actual Dutch cheese I sampled from amsterdam. I had to try their farmers cheese first to place the flavour.

Im a bit of a "weed snob". i will only toke on exotics, and i pefer to smoke out of glass and water only. i am a dh/bmx racer so it does effect my respitory system, very minimal though. my legs will give out before my lungs do, so dont have to worry about it that much. im not trying to make a living out of racing. i am a grower as well. drying and curing romulan and pink kush right now. my favorite buds of all time have to be Kush and Hash Plant. coulnt mistake those smells or tastes if i tried. i use my gravity bong more than any other piece i have. it is the most efficient bong in existence. i do have lots of respect for anybody who chooses not to smoke or associate with pot. most do not realize that it is a beautiful complex flower with remarkable smell and gorgeous colors and glistening trichromes. sorry i could go all day on this subject, but im going home and toking!

Amsterdam moves to close a fifth of 'coffee shops'
By TOBY STERLING, Associated Press Writer

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands – Amsterdam will close almost a fifth of its marijuana cafes to comply with a national ban on having them near schools, the mayor said Friday.

Another city, Eindhoven, said it would start issuing permits to marijuana growers in order to better regulate the trade — if the national government approves.

The plans were announced as 33 major Dutch cities held a "weed summit" to discuss the nation's long-standing policy of tolerating marijuana use while routinely arresting growers.

Marijuana is technically illegal in the Netherlands, but can be sold in small amounts in designated cafes — euphemistically known as "coffee shops" — without fear of prosecution. More than a quarter of the country's cafes are in Amsterdam, where they are a major tourist attraction.

But Mayor Job Cohen said the city would close about 20 percent of its cafes.

Those included some landmarks, such as The Bulldog — a high-traffic shop operating since 1985 in a former police station on one of the city's main squares.

Letters have been sent to 43 shops located within 250 meters (yards) of a high school informing them they will have to close by the end of 2011 if they cannot successfully appeal the decision, Amsterdam spokeswoman Iris Reshef said. Though she added that the city did not have any major problems with the cafes.

But other cities closer to the Netherlands' borders have expressed frustration at being bombarded by "drug tourists" from Germany, France or Belgium seeking to stock up on marijuana — an often finding ways to bypass a 5 gram (1/5 ounce) purchase limit.

"If the border areas shut down tomorrow, then (inland cities) Den Helder and Almere will soon be suffering," said Mayor Geert Leers of the southern border city Maastricht.

Representatives at the summit Friday in Almere, 20 kilometers (12 miles) east of Amsterdam, also discussed the policy of arresting growers, which left cafes with no way to legally source their most lucrative product.

Eindhoven Mayor Rob van Gijzel said his city wanted to set up a pilot scheme of issuing permits to growers.

"People will be able to ask for a permit to grow for fixed prices," he said after the summit. "It'll be regulated in terms of produce and revenues, but also movement, in transports to the coffee shops."

Amsterdam backed the idea of expanding the tolerance policy to growers, the city spokeswoman said, noting it could help keep organized crime out.

"We don't have any insight to what goes on behind the back door," Reshef said. "What we need is a closed supply chain."

But the national government must approve the scheme, and it was unclear how long that could take or if it was even likely. Polls suggest most voters support decriminalizing marijuana cultivation, but the coalition government is led by the conservative Christian Democrats, which opposes it.

Justice Minister Ernst Hirsch Ballin said Thursday he had "no intention" of changing national marijuana policy.

The Dutch Parliament voted to regulate growers once before in 2005, but the government refused, saying it would lead to a confrontation with the European Union.

According to data compiled by the Netherlands' Trimbos Institute for Mental Health and Addiction, after 30 years of the Dutch tolerance policy, usage rates here are somewhere in the middle of international norms — above those in Germany and the Scandinavian countries, but below those of France, Britain and the United States.

Green Dragon

This is a simple and efficient 4 Step process.

Ingredients:
1/8oz high quality cannabis
2 oz Bacardi Rum – 151 proof

Double the Recipe?
Sure, why not. It should be fine. But I prefer to err on the side of caution and would probably do the extraction twice with a self-titration in between runs.

Using an Ounce
The recipe should scale nicely from 1/8 to whole ounce. But, unless you have experience with smaller batches I'd recommend sticking with the recipe as written. It would be a shame to have something go wrong with a large batch. I strongly recommend making the GD a couple of times before trying to scale up.


Process Summary:

1. Chop cannabis very fine (coffee grinder works great)
2. Place in a shallow pan or aluminum foil and bake at 325°F for 5 minutes.
3. Remove from oven and place cannabis in 2 oz of 151 proof rum
4. Simmer in a water bath for 20 minutes. Maintain temperature of the rum/cannabis mixture between 170°F.
5. Strain the mixture and store.

Process details—references and rationalizations:

1. Chop the cannabis
More surface area gives means a faster and more efficient extraction.
-Leaf vs. Bud
I have not tried the extraction with leaf. But you would obviously need loads more. The problem is you will also need much more alcohol. My guess is you should use somewhere on the order of 10 parts alcohol to 1 part leaf. Then once you are finished you will want to remove the spent leaf, and then concentrate the alcohol by boiling off most of it (using the water bath of course) until you have one ounce of GD remaining.

2. Bake the cannabis.
This converts THCA to THC via a decarboxylation reaction.
In whole-plant cannabis, THC content is expressed as THCA (tetrahydrocannabolic acid) prior to decarboxylation into THC, which takes place when cannabis is heated during cooking, and smoked or vaporized ingestion. THCA is a mild analgesic and anti-inflammatory but does not have good affinity with our CB1 receptors, so in order to make a THC-rich tincture that has many of the same therapeutic effects as smoked ingestion (including rapid absorption, quick relief and ease of self-titration), we must convert the THCA in the plant matter into THC prior to extracting it through an alcohol soak. THC vaporizes at about 380°F. We want to heat the cannabis to convert THCA to THC, but keep the temperature under 380°F. That is why 325°F is used. Between four and five minutes your oven (and house) will start to smell very strong. This is the time to remove the cannabis from the oven.

Notice also that there is considerable misinformation regarding heating the cannabis. It is true that you don't have to heat it to extract both THC and THCA, but the amount of THC in whole plant preparations is relatively small compared to after decarboxylation of the THCA. So if you want to maximize the strength of your tincture you must heat the cannabis prior to extraction.

Bake the pot at 325 degrees Fahrenheit for 5 minutes. I chop mine in a mini-prep (or chop by hand) until it is quite fine. Then I spread it out on a piece of aluminum foil which is placed directly on the oven rack. If you place the foil on a baking pan you will need to account for the additional mass of the pan which will increase your baking time. Pre-baking should stink up the house. I turn on the stove vent fan. I also do all my cooking at night after neighbors are in bed. Keep a close eye on it!

I look for two indicators that the pot is properly pre-baked. First, I look for the pot to change color from it's initial shade of green to a much darker greenish-brown (or brownish-green). I assume this represents not browning (burning) of the leaf but rather the denaturation of the chlorophyll in the leaves.

Second, I look for a slight amount of vapors to rise off the pot. Since the temperature is well below the vaporization temperature of THC, these vapors probably consist of compounds that vaporize at lower temperatures (like water).


3. Use the highest proof alcohol available.
Where I live this is Bacardi 151. The more alcohol the more efficient the extraction will be.

4. Simmer the mixture.
This is one of the areas that seems to be most debated. Many recipes call for placing the cannabis (unbaked of course) into the alcohol and waiting 2 – 6 weeks. The main concern with heating the alcohol is that it is “explosive” (not exactly true...it is however flammable).

The purpose of the simmering is to heat the alcohol mixture to improve extraction rates and efficiencies. Heating during extraction increases the motion of the molecules (basic physics/chemistry) and drastically decreases extraction times. The boiling point of pure ethanol is 173°F (78°C). We will use the water bath to heat the rum/cannabis mixture to just below the boiling point of ethanol.

Heating the alcohol mixture can be done very safely using a hot water bath. You will need an accurate candy or quick read thermometer. Place about 1 inch of water in a wide, vertical-edged pan (9” diameter x 3” high). Bring the water to a low simmer. The rum/cannabis mixture should be in a small (1 pint) mason jar. Do NOT cover the jar.

Put the thermometer into the mason jar and place into the simmering water bath. Bring the temperature of the rum/cannabis mixture to about 170°F. The alcohol should be just barely boiling.

You should have the oven fan on high. You will notice that any alcohol fumes are mixed with water vapor from the water bath and vented out the fan. This combined with the fact that you are trying not to boil the ethanol makes the process quite safe.

I've had good success with extractions at 170 degrees fahrenheit. You'll note that my initial recipe called for maintaining temperature between 150 and 165. At 170 the alcohol mixture will be slightly boiling. Note that this is alcohol boiling not water boiling. Alcohol boils with very fine bubbles as opposed to the rolling boil of water. After 20 minutes the alcohol should be reduced by about half.

5. Strain and store.
When you are done extracting you will have one ounce (or so) of GD. But it is mixed up with the 1/8 oz of spent plant material. Here is how I recover the maximum amount of my extract.

First, I strain it through a regular kitchen mesh strainer. I use the back of a spoon to force out as much GD as possible.

Next (this is the cool part) I use a garlic press to squeeze the remaining leaves. My preference is a Zylis Garlic Press because it has a plunger mechanism, but any press should do. I then put the squeezings into the plunger in batches, and squeeze the holy GD out of it. This trick has increased my overall recovery by about 15%

When you are finished with the extraction you will be left with about 1oz of green dragon tincture after you have strained the extract. Notice that one ounce of the alcohol has evaporated. See the tips below for a good way to strain the tincture.

A standard eyedropper will transfer about 1ml (or 1 gram) of liquid. There are 29 milliliters in one ounce. So you should end up with about 30 or so full eyedroppers (30 milliliters) of Green Dragon.
Final Color and Smell
The green dragon should be a greenish-brown color (more brown than green). If it is emerald green and smells like grass (from the cholorphyll), it will be weak. Emerald green indicates that the pre-baking was not sufficient. The GD should smell like bud, somewhat floral.

6. Dosage. Titration.
You will have to figure dosage with each batch. And you must test it on yourself. The way to do this is through titration (a fancy chemical term that means to determine the concentration of a solution). The concentration of GD will change based on the strength of the starting material, the amount of alcohol you boil off during the extraction, the efficiency of your pre-bake, etc

Start with one or two full dropperfuls (not drops! About 1 ml per dropper) and swallow them down. Check the time and note when you first feel effects, when you peak, the intensity of the peak, and how long it lasts. Make sure you can reproduce your titration (empty stomach, time of day, diluted in water?, etc). If you like what you feel, great. If too much or not good enough try again tomorrow with a different amount. With two points (high and low) you should have a pretty good idea of how it works on your body. Of course it might be different on someone considerably bigger or smaller.

For instance one batch I made was unbelievably strong--1 dropperful and I was flying. The next one took 3 dropperfuls for same effect (but the solution was more dilute as I ended up with 1.75oz instead of 1oz of final GD, the pot wasn't as good, and my pre-bake was a bit too short since I was using an unfamiliar oven and a baking pan instead of just aluminum foil).

One milliliiter (one full eyedropper) is very nice. Two puts you in space. But you must self-titrate (test it on yourself) as each batch will be slightly different. Effects take up to 1.5 hours to begin (at least in myself) and lasted for 5 hours (1 dropper) to 7-8 hours (2 droppers).

I place one eyedropper (1ml) of Green Dragon in a small glass. I then add a small amount of water (1-2 ml) and drink. Do this on an empty stomach for best results (about 20-30 minutes before eating a main meal is good).

Everybody is different. It takes me between 30-90 minutes to feel the effects of Green Dragon

I had tried a tincture someone had made using the cold extraction method with the same amount of cannabis and found that 5 ml (5 full eyedroppers) did pretty much nothing.

Using my Green Dragon technique I find that one dropper will bring effects on in 30-90 minutes and last 5 hours with 1.5 hours of lingering aftereffects.
