i'm a very big rider (6'4'', about 290lbs), and i love to ride. basically every style.drop, freeriding, trails, some trials riding, dj'ing and all that stuff..i do not have a problem with landing soft off drops, because for a guy my size, i do have a lot of finesse..i'm just wondering what the best setup for a rider my size would be..my plan is a .243 racing frame (bmx bb and dropouts), 2003 rockshox boxxer race, profile ss cranks, hayes 8", atomlab trailpimp wheels, 243 bars + stem..is there anything you would change about that? let me know.

C'mon... DETAILS MAN!!
How can we tell you w/o you giving more specifics?
Oh.. and welcome to RM :D
A very big, heavy setup.
Probably involving Profile cranks, a Monster T, Arrow rims, Avalanche shock, and assorted other goodies.
I dunno, what do you ride?

Thats a pretty damn good setup for a big guy. I don't see any weak spots that jump out at me...What hubs do you run?
BTW what do you think of the .243 stem/headset...I have been thinking about grabbing it :)

I would go for a Monster T if I were you rather than the Boxxer. It is heavier, but it is much plusher and stronger. The fork is one thing you really don't want to skimp on for a guy your size.

um.. the fork is going on a hardtail. monster's usually don't go very good with hardtails.

Hmm...if you're thinking about DC forks, maybe a SuperT will suite your needs better. Man...that bike is gonna look dinky on you:D

I think there are people on this board who would claim an Avy can make a hardtail ride better :D
Who knows, they might be right

He edited his post; when I suggested the Avy, his post read "I'm big. What bike should I buy?"
I'm dumb, but I'm not THAT dumb......:p
actually Avy doesn't have a rear shock that can be setup for a 300lbs dude. most i know of is like maybe 240lbs. get a burly ass hardtail

Nah. Big Rich rides one, and he was pushing 300 for a while; I think he's somewhere around 275 atm.......

for the time being, i'm gonna stick to hardtail. i've had bad luck with fs frames in the past. also running single speed, because 8 and 9 speed chains can't seem to hold up. i'm pretty much set about what i'm gonan get besides the fork. and i know that i want to run DC.
