I'm about to install a new 2002 Marz. Super T and need some advice/help.

According to a marz. sticker on the fork, you are not supposed to install the lower crown above the "machine step" (see attached pic.). You are also supposed to leave 3mm of free space between the top of your tire and lower crown when the fork is fully compressed. I did some rough measurements and even if I moved the lower crown right to the edge of the "machine step", it might not clear the top of a 2.7" tire when the fork is fully compressed.

Bottom line is I want to allow enough vertical space to safely use a 2.7" tire sometime in the near future, but I'm worried that I won't be able to install the lower crown high enough. (I don't have a 2.7 tire on hand).

Is there a need to worry about this? Is there something I'm not considering and/or doing?

Thanks!

That fork will clear any 2.7" tire out there with the crown at the score mark. It should also clear a 2.8" Michelin. Ya can't rely too heavily on rough measurements! In your pic it looks like the crown could move up about 2 or 3 mm.

Where in VA are you?

I'm in Vienna (NOVA) right now. I grew up here. Just moved back from Boulder CO. I'm about to move again in a few months to somewhere in the Charlottesville/Waynesboro area. I'm hoping to move there before Wintergreen opens for mtb'ing.

One way to know for sure. unsrew the top caps and compress the fork till it bottoms. Should be fine though. I ran Gazzaloddi 2.6 tires on my Jr T last year and had plenty of clearance.
