So what will moving the shock from 1 to 2 do ?
I know it will lower the back end/seat, but what about shock travel, overall geometry, ect?

It will lower your bottom bracket and should decrease your travel ("shock travel" will be the same).

It will also reduce the leverage on the spring, making the rear end travel feel stiffer.

was just looking at your spring, is it really a 2.25" stroke shock? whats the travel on that? I have a 2002 sgs dh and it has a 2.5" stroke shock. This year they went to 2.75" stroke so the leverage ratio has been getting lower.
but they were right, the #2 hole will lower the leverage ratio, decreasing travel but will be easier on your shock.

I have the same bike, and all these guys are right, moving to hole#2 will make the travel 5" according to Todd at IronHorse, leaving it at hole#1 will keep the travel at7".
I think the shock is 7.875 x 2.25
Hope this helps.
