Truvativ Gigapipe ISIS BB

Has anyone used one yet? Have they cured some of the ISIS maladies?:confused:

ISIS maladies? I've never had a problem with it, run it on several bikes. :confused:

I guess I should have been a bit more clear - I apologize. In the past, I've gone through 2 FSA BB's in short amount of time. Many have said it was simply due to the fact that the bearings are undersized in an ISIS application - regardless of manufacturer. Maybe that's why KING isn't doing one.

I like the ISIS concept, but I don't want to keep shelling out $$ for new BB's every month!

Sounds like you've had some success Echo, I assume you're using the Truvativ stuff....:thumb:

I'm using Hussefelts with the Truvative DH bb on my M1, the bb is due for some maintenance but it's been reliable and strong. I have some Stylo Teams that aren't on a bike right now, but when I was using them I was happy with them. I don't have any experience with the Gigapipe bb though.

...I haven't had a bit of trouble out of my RF Signature Series. I'm normally pretty hard on BBs, too.

Intersesting.

The guys at Go-ride told me that FSA makes the RF bb's and that RF rebadges them and makes the cup a distinctive annodized color(red\blue). Those guys usually are on top of their game so maybe someone can clarify this?

Seeing as how the RF bb's cost 2-3 times more than FSA, i would like to figure out is this is true or bogus info?:confused:

Well the RF doesn't look anything like the FSA, but I guess that doesn't really mean anything... Go-ride usually does know what they are talking about...

If RF has a half-competent lawyer, Freak would dare not speak of such an arrangement, lest RF sue his balls off.

That assumes that such arrangement is the case, but I have a feeling that RF would not farm out something like that - they were one of the original driving forces behind the ISIS concept....

This has nothing to do with ISIS -

From the dawn of the sealed cartridge bottom bracket, some last a week and some last 3 years.

I went through 2 RF prodigys last year, at about 3 months each, one truvativ (~4 months) and am now on month 7+ on my RF signature.

On the Shimano end, I had 2 XTRs that lasted less than a month each. Then I had an XTR that lasted from April until I sold the bike in October.

XT and LX? Same thing, only it's not worth counting.

The way I understand it, I'm hard on BBs. But also, a huge number of them come back under warranty from people you know have barely ridden the bike.

I've been riding a Truvativ DH splined BB for over 2 years... not a single problem.:confused:

I'm a big boy (220+lbs) and I race DH and like to ride freeride type stuff.

Last season, my and my team mates went through SEVERAL of the TruVativ bottom brackets. I don't care what model it was, they all crapped out. Usually it was the bearings developing a lot of slop in them, but we also managed to snap an axle or two. I'm not bashing TruVativ, I don't know who makes the TruVativ parts, and I don't care. I'm just telling it like it is.

We recently picked up Race Face as our sponsor and are now running their BB's. While I don't have much time on my GigaPipe, it works. Our top DH'r got their lightest BB and a GigaPipe, and he installed the light one first. He just wanted to see how strong the light one is. Not sure how it's doing, but I haven't heard any complaints.

Interesting to find out how both RF and the Gigapipe work out. My RF ISIS BB crapped out in 1/2 a season. My Truvativ DH ISIS was solid all last season.
