View Full Version : Milk Question
Now I’ve got a dear friend who swears that drinking milk before you ski lets you ski longer and fights the build up of lactic acid in the legs.
Sounds suspect at best and more likely some confusion between lactose and lactic acid.
Or, is he right?

this is just a guess but that sounds terrible. most adults cannot properly digest milk.
does he fart his way down the mountain?
there may be some vitamins in milk that help with lactic acid, but none that I know of. tell him to take a camelbak with some diluted cytomax.
Nah, can't tell him anything - unless it comes across his inbox as a chain letter/e-mail. ;)

Well start a chain e-mail ;)
The metabolic pathways for digesting lactose (milk) and lactic acid production are completely different and I can't see any obvious link between them. That doesn't mean there's no validity to what he does....but my gut feel is that he's probably experiencing more of a placebo effect.
