has anyone else screwed up a lot of rims trying tailwhips?

no, When I have tried tailwhips (I get nowhere close), My rims have been fine

Same, messing up on 360s seems to mess them up more, although mine haven't been tweaked at all really in about two years. If you want some really well built wheels get em from albes.

tailwhips shouldn't be messing up your rims. Land front wheel first and have it pointing in the direction your momentum is going, your rear wheel should just naturally follow. This is also good for when you are crooked in the air and don't want to bail or mess up your rims.

it doesnt happen when i am doing it with some air, but when i try bunnyhop twhips is when they really mess up. when the momentum of the bike comes around and slams into the cement is when it really tweaks the rim.

whilei haven't been doin tailwhips.
i have some older 48's and i have wrenched them alot..
landing sideways. and such and they are pretty true..
i only have problems with bending the sidewalls..
