The titec stem is temporary as I have stolen it off my single speed. I was using a 100mm race face, but the 120 is so much better.
I will also be replacing the pedals with VP cages as soon as I pick them up from my friend

Nice, reminds me of my own. I had a custom powdercoated Zebdi mk2 in metallic beige, now I am riding this until I can afford to build my new project

they are light cranks
but weak and they are not splind
but they are lite
i say stick with ur race face
i've been bashed mine hard for 6 months it also have metal chiping out of the cranks and stll not bent yet

Can't see how the Bonz are not strong - they are stiff as can be and seem to hold up very well for everyone I know, including some guys that go big (not me)
Wait a bit though, they have a splined version in the works.

jhusk - Thanks! It's around 22.75 I do believe. Could be a good 1.5lbs lighter, and will be next year (new wheelset, lighter fork, lighter tires)
Bonk - I figured you'd like that :p I was thinking about a Orange fork too! :p But I may just hold out and get a Capriolo. Hmmm.

22.75 is pretty darn light. I think mine is around 25lbs, but it is built to be heavy/burly.
My baby is a mere 21 lbs. :D

That must be a single ply Maxxis rear then! How is it so light? I don't mean to sound like I don't believe you.. it's just that.. I don't believe you :P
The spec is not all that unlike my own. Mine could easily be lighter though, I have changed some stuff since I weighed it. But still! With my plans of a sub-400g front tire, sub-700g rear, King hubs, Capriolo fork.. it should be around 20 - 20.5

I went back to a Tioga 2.3 DH on the rear again (which is kevlar bead). The front tire is a Huchinson Python Airlight BTW. Probably the lightest tire available.
I run standard tubes front and rear, no DH tubes in the rear. I also have the newesr Zebdi MK3.5 now. The one in the picture is an MK2, and the MK3.5 is about 1/2 lbs. lighter. Front brake is one of the lightest available, Magura Marta, King hubs front and rear, King headset with carbon spacers, Dropped the XT shifter for an old SRAM 6 speed shifter that I sawed off, therefore also only 6 gears in the back w/ aluminum spacers filling the gap, still using a aluminum drive shell on my rear hub as I can't get my cogs off of it :rolleyes: , Aluminum HS-33 arch in the back instead of the stock steel one, running a RaceFace Prodigy 15M BB instead of a 12M (hasn't snapped yet) with the hollow crank bolts, the seat....well...that weighs nothing....I'm actually using a PX Mini Trials saddle now...same thing just padded. That's a Thompson stem inderneath the pad I don't use anymore either.....hmmm....what else?
I think that was all my weight saving triacks and things I've done special to it. I do have a Shimano 105 to replace the Sora if I bust it, so there will be a little more weight savings if that goes on the bike.
Can't think of anything else, but it weights a kewl 21 lbs., I $h!t you not.

Hey Bonk, what fork are you using?
My zebdi is almost 30#, and I'm planning on putting a lighter fork/front wheel on it. I'll probably just get an orange, but seems like there's a lot of options out there.

I use and Orange....had a Caprillo(sp?) ...the 1.79lbs. or whatever fork and sold it. I wouldn't trade my Orange for anything. Perfect strength to weight ratio.

Wow Bonk, I do believe you now! Never realized that you ran dual Kings, and that it was a Marta up front. As well as the BB, tire, etc. That'll do it!
The Capriolo fork does flex more than the Orange for sure. I tried it on a friend's ES4 and just LOVED it, some will like the flex, some won't. It's a nice springy flex, and gives a feel I enjoy for natural riding.

The Python Airlite is actually 480g I do believe. I ordered a Kenda Klimax: 345g :eek:
I did a couple things today though.. removed the uniseat and cut down the seattube.. wow! While I'd ran seatless before, it had been a while, and I'm not puttin it back on! A lot more room for the knees. Veddy nice on natural! I'm gonna use a headset top cap to keep crap out, methinks. The other thing I did was remove the spring assembly on the Ultegra mech, and replaced it with washers. So now when I tighten it down, she don't move. Which means no more clanging, without the ugliness of a tube ziptied to my frame. For anyone running their stock as a fixed gear, I recommend! Only downside is it makes taking off the rear wheel a bit more awkward - but still doable.

i am not saying they are bad....but if they are soo good, Y? do so many of them break, AS ken said alot of them break but ppl buy them cuz of their good warrenty, but y would u ride a bike that would break???

Yes. Common to do, the strength isn't compromised too much and you can save 100 - 150g per rim! I'd drill my own, but too much effort for me!

i dunno, the idea of drilling a sizeable amount of material out of a highly integral part of the support of the bike seems like an inherently bad idea, but the front seems more acceptable

seems so, yes - but almost every rider in the UCI and BIU championships must be on to something.

Yeah... you can do some CRAZY things when you are sponsored.
That's like when Peaty runs hubs w/o ANY grease in them for DH. Works fine for one run... thank gawd one run is all it takes though, cuz they are toast afterwards.

But.. it's not like that at all. I have many friends who run drilled rims and ride every day, and ride hard. Mind you most of them are lightweights but the fact is, trials is generally not super hard on rims, we just need all the width we can get to get rid of tire foldage. Thus, drilling the rims doesn't compromise the strength to a degree that it affects most riders. Obviously, you need to drill the right size holes and properly - and the guys I know who drill rims are certainly not hacks in any sense of the word.

i guess if you know what you're doing, then it's a little more acceptable. It's way more common of a practice than i had thought. the only problem i could see is if you knicked the chamber part of the rim.
and didn't peaty run hubs with oil in them for less resistance?

Yeah, over in europe you're pretty much lame if you don't drill your rims. But they put a lot more focus on smoothness than here typically.
Naturally, there are certain size holes that are and are not used.. but generally, there aren't any problems related to them
