Does anyone know how to get the least damping and least sag out of a marzocchi Z1 freeride fork. What way would one have to turn the adjustment knobs etc...?

ok
to get the least sag u need to turn the black preload adjusters clockwise.
dont have them all the way, do them all the way up and then back them off a turn.
to get the least damping[ fast action], you need to turn the dampening adjuster all the way anti-clockwise, the damping adjuster is the little adjuster with the slot in th top of it in the middle of the preload adjuster on the right hand fork leg
you will probabally find that with the preoad set to hard and the damping set to fast that your forks will top out a lot

What is the difference between the big knob on the right and left leg?
The center rod on the right with the slot is the rebound damping (in slow, out fast), the knob on the right is the preload (in stiff, out saggy), the cheap lever on the left is the ECC lockout, the knob on the left is ___?

There are springs in each leg. The black knobs are preload adjusters for that spring.

#1 Read your owners manual.
#2 Call Marzocchi. Their tech people rock, and unlike RockShox or Manitou, they won't keep you rotting on hold listening to Kenny G.

Very much so :D
I've played with mine a lot, in that mode it's "boing-boing"
(You'll be on a hobby horse for most of the ride).
With the pre-load down all the way (to diminish the front from bouncing while standing and pedaling) Try with the dampening slower, this works pretty good, but stacks up on stutter bumps...

If your worried about how the Z.1 FR pedals while your standing and hammering, the Z.1 FR isn't the fork for you.
