Anyone have expirience with Real Hubs ?

Im thinking of getting a wheelset laced with Real CNC hubs with DT or Wheelsmith spokes and a Mavic 517...

Or laced with XT hubs but my XT hubs are busted so im not sure if i want to go with XT hubs again ?

If you're looking for a sweet non-disc rear hub, you should consider a hugi.

Wait a sec!!! Now that I think of it, I'm selling one!

they seem to be alright...teamate has one on his ds1. they're expensive though...i wouldn't see why you would want one of those when you could get a hadley or a ck for the same price.

I've had a a Real disc front hub for over 2 years, no problems and virtually maintence free. IMO they're great, I'm considering buying a set to lace to a pair of Rhyno Lites.

Stay away. They went out of business because their rear hubs were terrible. The one mentioned above is the first one I've ever heard of NOT breaking.

Not worth the risk. They're super cheap right now for a reason.

A front hub is a pretty safe investment; after all, you can get cartridge bearings from anyone. I haven't heard too many people complaining that their front hubs crapped out.

Definitely steer clear of the rear hubs though.

I have one of their front hubs (for a few years) and have had no problems.

I've got a set of Reals and haven't had any trouble. I've had the front for over two years, and like everyone says, it's tough to make a crappy front hub. No worries there. I've had the rear for about 9 months, riding quite a bit both up and down and I'm not unhappy. It works like an economy ought to. There's a bit more neutral space in the engagement than you would find in a King hub, but the cost is SOOO low.
A word about Hugi/Onyx/Hayes: I'v been through several of these and I hate 'em. If the axle bends just a slight ammount, then the pawls don't sit flush with each other and dissaster is imminent. I went trough MANY pawls discovering this. And when they strip, your knee goes straight into a painful place. AND you lose the race or get stuck out in the middle of nowhere. Not fun

I had a Rear one on my bullit. Worked nice but got loose every ride or so. Kind of annoying at first, then it just became routine matinence

You are definitely better off with XT and the thing most shops don't like to tell you is the freehub on an xt can be replaced without replacing the hub for like $20 including labor.
