Avid disc set-up question

Hi,

One quick question. There is a small metal piece that looks to be hooked around the pads. It forms a "u" shape and the ends form two "loops." Does this piece stay or do I need to remove it?

I left em on...no problems! I didn't have them on my bike, but when I set up the new rig for Sista, there they were. Don't worry about it, she hasn't been flipped of the bike yet!!!:sneaky:

Those are the new spring clips for 2002 pads...definitely leave 'em on. You will not have the problems with rattling magnets like 2001 model cps brakes (mine) did.

Also, the end sections are pad wear indicators, which you may want to bend back, or else they will scrape against the rotor to warn you when your pads need to be replaced. But you usually have plenty of pad left when they start making noise, so I bend them back.
