most of us come from a bmx background, that's no excuse for thinking noisy hubs are anything special...

Loud hubs are the sh!t when you are making the "O" face through a big set of dubs...
Couldn't agree with you more.

I still don't get it, here in my country (Argentina), the kids are starting threads in our local MTB forum asking which hub should they buy to get the noisest sound. Personally, I take performance over noise, but it seems today it's all about the looks...

imo people should ride instead of caring how their hub sounds. it's just like those motorcycle guys.. "look at me! my motor makes a lot of terrible noise! I'm so cool! i'm an attention whore!"
pfff, even responding to this thread is a waste of time

Just like anything else you may be into, its about character
Same way with motorcylces exhaust,
is the same way with cars.
Its not necessarily about being loud, but how how the exhaust note actually sounds, low and rough, louder and smooth whatever,
Just because you like the way an engine sounds at 9k doesn't make you an attention whore, just any other guy with a love of motorsports
and to an extent the same with hubs
Personally a loud hub who cares, the noise really just brings me back to the feeling of shredding some djs with my boys and you can't beat that
