Josh, if you guys plan to get breakfast, even fast food, on the way, it would be wise for you guys to pick me up around 5:30. Plus, altitude changes the effectiveness of just about everything on the trails up at 5,000-8,000 feet. It'll give us time to get there, and tune our bikes a little bit before we hit the trails.

You have a rack for 3 bikes on your roof, right? So you, me and Todd can pile into your OUTTIE Aye-for? :D

I can hold 4 bikes total. With Todd, Mike, and myself I have one more open spot. I have plenty of room for gear in the back as well. If one more person wants to join us, I need to do some roof rack rearrangements before we head up there. I have 4 bike carriers on the car, but one of them is a fork mount. But I do have a 4th frame mount one, I just need to swap it out with the fork mount.

Yes, the A4 will be slow, but damn we will look good rollin up at North Star. haha

Nice! Lame about the tube. Speaking of... I need to pick up some tubes just in case I burp my ghetto tubeless while I'm out there.

The 220 is awesome. Only 2 real rides on it so far. I need to bring it out more. I would like to do some dead campers action on it. I haven't been down that trail in over a year now (since I last had a big bike).

How do you feel about a early morning ride next week Todd? Is it a possibility? If not, maybe we can pull a before dark run or two? I'm slammed this weekend with Emily's sister coming to visit from out of town and being in a wedding all day on Saturday in SF.

Hey should I come out on a hardtail with a 150mm z1? I realize that this will be some of the gnarliest terrain i have ridden, and I wont be able to clear some sections, but I want to see n* before it closes! There's a jump park at the bottom that's totally fine for hard tails. Live wire probably wouldn't be too bad either.

I'd say Livewire, Sinuous, Speedcontrol, Little/Big Trees, and the jump park are right up your alley. Everything else will be too difficult/scary on a hardtail, and you'll end up over the bars.

Just remember that Livewire is all about timing.

My shock wasn't rebuilt, but was scoped out by one of the Specialized suspension guys. I'm ready to roll. All I need now is to get my rear wheel a new spoke, and get her trued up a bit.

I did my first DH ride on my Primer this am. It was nice. This bike is fast. I'm used to being more careful with line choices on my Snyper, this will go over just about everything. haha I think I may need to set my sag on the rear shock now that its broken in a bit more.

As I recall, The Star's last lift run is something like 3:45pm (pending weather... one day it started with the thunder/lightning, and they shut the lifts down at 2:45). But we should be good for a full 6 hour day, 10:00am - 4:00pm.

I usually bring snacks to much on all day. Powerbars, peanut bars, something with sugar in it. I've always been a fan of hitting In-N-Out in Auburn on the way home. It's only a little over an hour from Truckee, and that'll put us right about the 5:30-6:00pm dinner time, so it should be good. There's also McDonald's and something else in Colfax, which is only about 40 minutes from Truckee.

I plan on smelling VERY bad tomorrow on the ride home. :D

FYI, there is no Sonic in Sacto that I'm aware of. There are 2 of them in Roseville. Lead Hill/North Sunrise at the gas station located on the southwest corner and the other one is off Hwy 65 & Pleasant Grove....

It was a ton of fun driving you guys out there! almost 10 hours of driving for a little over 5 hours of riding. So worth it. The trails were way better than the previous year. And nobody crashed. A VERY successful trip.

Hell yes. Riding with you guys out there was a lot of fun! So weak about the fork. Any idea what happened yet? I also finally got a run on Gypsy without someone stopping on the lip/landing of the bigger jump at the bottom of the trail. Such a fun jump. You can get some serious air on that one.

As for a Santa Cruz ride, **** yeah that needs to happen. I cant this weekend, maybe next (since I don't think I can go to the Northstar race).

Josh- Looks like an o-ring on the PAR chamber for Kelly's fork burped and created a gnarly negative air chamber that kept the fork stuck down. I pulled the whole thing apart last night and got it sorted out. I just need to figure out if I'm going to get rid of the extra PAR chamber to keep it from happening again or not. All the seals look good, so it was probably just not good enough tolerances on the seal or something.

Josh... that berm on Livewire claimed another. Think I gave myself a minor concussion, hurt my neck and back pretty good, too. Knocked the wind out of myself.

Cracked a little piece of my helmet, but the impact was hard enough to get me to buy a new helmet anyway.

Blah. I'm in such major pain.

Might be out on the trail bike at UCSC this weekend just for a mellow double-looper.

I'm on a mission to do a ton of trail surgery this winter out there. Mending that bridge toward the bottom of Dead Campers is on my priority list. Amongst other things like raking, shoveling some of the smoother trails on the North side of the trails like Z's, Sweetness, etc. They need serious help. And Chupa needs some work where the trail pretty much disappears for like 20 feet. Haha...
