Is the Fluidride Cup still planned for next weekend, July 12-13?
What will the course be? Looking at the webcam the snow situation has improved...
Any dual slalom for this one?
Who's going?
Cheers!

Yeah, it's on the schedule. It'll be the bottom half, about 4min on average. It's a fun course. I believe they plan to have DS at all of them.

Its going to be sick!!!
The Fluidride Cup is definitely on next weekend.
Unfortunately no dual slalom at this one. We just haven't had time to get the course built since the snow's melted. There will definitely be slalom at the last three FR cups. We will simply take the best 4 of 5 results for the overall.
Practice for this weekend is Sat-Sun as ususal al Hood.
The DH courses will start at the top of the lower chair, so no upper bowl at this one either. Still too much snow- Crazy.

If I understand correctly the upper bowl is out all year because of work being done on the upper lift?
Please confirm or deny this ugly rumor!

As far a I know the upper bowl is not being used at this one due to the snow level. It will be in at the two Sept. races.

IS there anyone that has room going down from Seattle or Tacoma? Leaving late Saturday or Early Sunday?

I'm pretty sure Ski Bowl is open for regular mtb operations on Fri. (barring the upper bowl of course)
However there isn't a race discount for the lift tickets or anything, as it's not considered official race practice.
Hopefully we can get some sort of lift ticket discount setup for fri at the two Sept races, as we will be needing extra practice time with slalom and all.

Some of Team Fat Kids are leaving Saturday early. Let me know if you'd want to split gas/lodging.
Remember to bring your old numberplates!
Those things are meant to be used for the entire series.
Otherwise we're going to be giving out numbers in the 1,000's by the fourth race.
Spread the word.

Mine has survived the first two races!
I'm regretfully skipping this one so I can get my rig rolling by next month's race and beyond. It should be a fun one as always...especially when the Sun Deck is involved. Good luck to all that attend and tear it up!

any recommendations on places to stay?
The parkinglot!
No really, absolutely everything at the top is booked up. The condos, Mt hood all the standards. The summer ski camps are in full swing. Closest lodging is in Sandy, or Rhododendron(sp?).
Or just camp like we are.

Huckleberry Inn has a 4 person room for 107 a night available for this weekend. They may have others.

Bottom of the flier for this race....
"Parking: at Skibowl parking lot. (NO CAMPING)" Can you confirm?
Oh sh*t.
I think what they are trying to avoid a bunch of camping tents setup in the parking area. Kinda like the "No Camping" at Dry Hill
Especially if you have something to sleep in besides a tent wink wink.
If it's a big deal there's always the other place people camp down the street a bit.

I'm sure it will all work out. We are heading down Thursday and hopefully getting some runs in on Friday.

Almost worth the trip alone. Well, that and watching people constantly stacking it on the alpine slides.

And speaking of The Huck Inn.
Be sure to get a Huckleberry Shake there. Those things are so damn tasty. I had my first one way back when I was a ski race grom... Still crave em. Almost worth the drive to Hood alone.
Have a good race ya'll.

Unfortunately, none of the above will be down there this coming weekend. Ted's going to Whistler and the rest of us will be riding locally...hopefully I'll be riding my new (to me, at least) DHR.:monkeydance:

What kind of turnout so far? I know a lot of the locals just show up race day so it may be hard to gauge otherwise.
One thing's for certain - carnage on the alpine slides.

The turnout was good. Maybe 200 to 250 riders. Not as much as Fluidride Cup #2. There is a write up and pics on Bones Over Metal.com (http://www.bonesovermetal.com)
There will be more coming, as well.

Yeah, I finished it finally. Sorry, been busy. By the way, it's my favorite bike movie. I know there are some problems, but I enjoyed it a lot. Thanks! Also, there is a video and results now up on the site.
