removing race face diabolus DH x type cranks and BB

So it should be easy to remote these with an 8 and 10 mil hex but when I pull the bolt and put the cap (which should provide the removal mechanism) into the crank it bottoms out and it seems like that it requires way more force than it should to continue pulling off the crank, am I doing something incorrect here?

any instructions on the removal steps would be appreciated

I'm bot 100% sure what exaclty your doing, but you should only need an 8mm to pull the crank. The threaded rock ring that takes 10mm key, should stay in place as you loosen the 8mm.

I just found the instructions on parktool.com.

I was using the 10mm cap as the crank puller.
