hello, i have a Z1 dual year 2000 with a blown seal, is it reasonably straight forward to swap them out for a new set?

Lay down some plastic, it will get messy. There are lots of tear-down instructions floating around. Run a search, you should be able to figure it out.

2000 Z1 QR20 schematics (http://manualer.happymtb.org/marzocchi/2000%20z1%20qr20.pdf)
My advice is to have a seal press or lots of large sockets to push in the seals. I also like to use a Oil Seal Slider Protector:

It helps to protect the lower legs when you have to pry the seals out.
Other than that, you will need a long socket extension and I believe a 12 mm socket to remove the cartridges, and a 21-24 mm socket to open the top caps.

Full tear down of a similar chassis. Should be the same internal bushing/seal arrangement:
Enduro fork seals instruction. (http://www.enduroforkseals.com/id3.html)

Good stuff, will install enduro seals next time. Fork feels good as new, stoked!
