A thread for us to keep track of and discuss all the cool techy stuff that is sure to be introduced at this year's race.
I'll start with this new Ridley. First time I've seen those slots on a non-TT or Tri bike, with the exception of some of the forks, but actually built into the frame, pretty damn sweet.

Hopefully Robbie can get a win or two on it...

Of what slots doth you speaketh?

Kind of hard to make out, but in the pic of the fork, those white lines down the middle are slots for air to pass through. On the rear stays, right below the sponsor decals (Vredestein, Brustor, Silence, etc) is another slot.

Ahhh got it. Do they really make the bike faster?

I guess in the wind tunnel they actually do quite a bit. Whether or not you or I would notice is another thing, no idea.

Yeah, I didn't make it clear, but I meant in the wind tunnel.

Any idea if this is patented? Now that I think about it, I do vaguely reading something about slotted forks a while back...

I think it is, the folks at Oval patented it, I think Ridley licensed it from them or something.

You can buy a pair of slotted forks from Oval now.

Old school coaches would disagree with you. Sluts are bad for your performance.

I'd love to see what Ryder's Canadian paintjob looks like.
I really dig those Felt TT bikes.

I dig those really deep wheels.

Edit: Meaning the Zipp 1080's

Those are some fast looking bikes. I like the solid aero carbon rear wheel, functionability as well as graphic potential!

That rear wheel, according to Zipp, "creates true negative drag."

yeah....

we sold 2 Felt DAs and both ended up back at Felt for warranty issues. The new Specialized Transition frame looks splendid. Especially in black.

They didn't do Ryder's because they hate canadians.

I want to know whats up with this:

Do hard nipples make you faster?? Is that the key?

The main issue is that only about 25% of your energy goes to muscle movement while 75% goes to temperature regulation. Anything that can help relieve the burden of temperature regulation is going to help performance. Additionally, it delays the onset of sweating which in turn delays dehydration. On a 6 hour ride that might not mean much but on an 1 hour time trial it can be significant.

Whats the ideal temp for your muslces to be operating at? I know when its really cold out your body has to work harder to keep your muscle, and core, temp. up

Same principle.

Good question not sure of the answer. The body will work to maintain 98.6 (or whatever your normal temp is) so whatever temperature reduces that work to the minimum. Acclimatization to temperature is a big deal as well. Think about how miserable that first hot ride of the year is, even when its not that hot.
