So I'm looking for some somewhat burly but somewhat light tires for my Bottle Rocket. I'd like to stay under 900g, somthing in the 2.35 range, good cornering traction up front, solid rear wheel traction, decent rolling resistance. Sidewall durability is a bit of a priority, especially for the rear, since I ride in a lot of sharp, jagged rocks. I'm currently running a 2.5 Stick-E Nevegal up front, and have tried a ton of different things in back, with varying degrees of success.

I liked a 2.35 DTC Nev, except I killed the sidewall.
I liked a 2.25 Schwalbe Albert, but it wore out in about a week.
I hated a 2.35 Rampage.
A 2.35 High Roller was so-so. Durability was alright, but traction on wet roots was suspect.

There were more.

I like the Nevegal up front, and will probably get another for familiarity's sake. But what to do in the rear? I was looking at the Advantage, but people seem to think the sidewalls are flimsy. I could try my luck with another Nevegal, and hope the sidewalls do better than last time. A UST could help there. Any other thoughts?

I don't know the weight, or if you can get them in 2.35, but I love my Bontrager Big Earls. Really sticky, last well, and can be had for a decent price from time to time.

Kickass tires, and pretty light. I found that they wore out quite fast though. They probably make them with different compounds, I had the soft ones.

I am also looking for a set of tires. My rims have tubes. I am looking for something a little more freeride, just a little bit less full on downhill.

I have the maxxis minions that came with my bike. I like them ok enough but I think I would like to find another set I can change out to use for more freeride stuff. aka actual pedaling around.

So maybe a little narrower for general use. I live in colorado and ride colorado and utah's rocky trails.

Any suggestions?

Second that, and they do make them in 2.35.

2.35 super tacky Minions in single ply for the front, double in the back might be the ticket.

I just ordered some 2.35 UST DTC Nev, they should have more decent sidewalls than the standard tires...

i run the downhill version of the 2.5 high roller in the front and a 2.5 minion dh in the rear. measure the same as my buddies 2.3 nevagals. the downhill versions have great sidewall strength especially with the wire bead. i can bomb any trail without worrying about what catches my tires. ran pisgah and many other rocky trails without incidents. love them.

Looks very promising. Won't haven't anything to put them on for a few weeks though...
