to be honest... i have the atomlab General Issue and have used the 5050's. The atomlabs are super grippy and give a slightly larger platform for your foot.
The general issue was what most of their team was using at the rays event... I got the DU bearings and saved 50 bucks over the aircorps.

5050's suck. Super soft metal makes for destroyed pedals after you knock em on a couple rocks. And they are heavy, so don't buy them if you're looking for something light. I've heard the atomlab pedals aren't bad, so that may be your better option. Check out the straitlines too. Just got a couple sets on my bikes...they are sick.

We have several 5050's at my shop...and I hate them. The bearings feel like poo, they're thick as hell, and not light. My pair of aircorps and trailpimps are way better! (On 2 different bikes) I love my aircorps...but the trailpimps are all anyone needs in my opinion. Thin, light, and good grip.

Thx Im definitely not gonna get 5050s after researching right now its between the aircorps, trailpimps, or the general issues...

Go for the aircorps.
They are bombproof.

also check out the easton flatboys, i've heard some relaly good things about those.
you COULD take the weight-weenie route, and go welgo mg-1, or dmr v12 with ti axle, i've parking lot tested them and they feel plenty good.

If you are after strong and light pedals that last and you can get every part as spares have a look at Burgtec pedals. If money is no issue they are some of the very best out there. If you are after low cost just get some of the new Fatspanner ones as there as good if not better than many that cost duble the price. Or at least the preproduction I have had and tried to kill are and there still going strong.

Another vote for the Atomlab GI's. I've never ridden a thinner or wider pedal. They rattle a bit once the bushings wear in, but I could care less in light of how they perform.
Edit: cheap too.

5050's are sh*t. i work in a shop and i have sent 3 pairs back to the factory because they were put together wrong, or broke, or had incorrect threading. also not that grippy and pretty heavy.
if you can get the cannondale grind pedals, they are the grippiest ones ive ever ridden. awsome for dh. the shimano dx are also really light and have fairly decent grip.

50/50 pedals are the most recent crap design i can think of. the whole 3pc is a horrid idea as the pedals becomes loud after you beat on it. ive had trailkings on my urban/dj bike for over a year and zero issues. gona put some aircorps on my dh bike asap

crank bros make great pedals, but 5050's are not one of them. I am not pleased with my 5050's.
Aircorps are thinner and lighter than 50/50, both very grippy, but Aircorps use to take some play (what is cheap and easy to fix). Of course 50/50 don't have this issue because it uses bearings instead of bushings.
I'm using Aircorps about 6 months and i am very happy. Lot of my friends uses 50/50s and are very happy too... so, go for the cheaper !!

I like how pretty the Crank bros stuff is but every item, pedal or otherwise, has broken on me. Look at the Straitlines, the Twenty6 6foes are sweet if cost doesnt matter.
