I hope he dies in Iraq and then we'll see what McCain has to say about this stupid war!

(just trying annoy the conservatives on here)

my guess is, if his son dies in iraq, mccain would probably become a stauncher war supporter (heŽd have nothing to lose anymore, thus heŽd probably try to get the most political gain from this hypothetical scenario), and would be seen with a huge amount of sympathy by the american public... thus making him an almost certain winner.... which would in turn prolong the troop stay, causing more deaths in the long run.

Mr. McCain has largely maintained a code of silence about his son, now a lance corporal, making only fleeting references to him in public both to protect him from becoming a prize target and avoid exploiting his service for political gain, according to friends. At the few campaign events where Lance Corporal McCain appeared last year, he was not introduced.

i'd hate to be his son over there right now. if mccain wins the election i can almost guarantee that he'll be pulled from combat duty as the price on his head would be astronomical.

They make it sound like his typical assignments would be top-secret. If the Prince Harry can serve and keep it secret, then McCain's should be able as well?

trust me...if he's in Iraq...nothing is secret. Prince Harry served as an officer, mccain is a LCpl, ie: enlisted and therefore, a worker-bee who doesn't get to make battlefield decisions, unlike an officer.

aren't children of the PotUS assigned secret service protection? Would a couple agents be sent to Iraq to protect his kid? That'd be weird.

that kid will have no more benefits than any other marine or soldier. I am willing to bet his deployment will be ten times more difficult for him than any other.

he (or his unit) may even get used as a pawn for grudges and grievances

I am a registered Democrat, and I am proud of the legislative policies of the Democratic Party.

However, being President is not just about your policies, and I think it very much matters the kind of character one has.

I think it is very easy for me to complain about the war, but to do something about it is something else. McCain's family is making the sacrifice to do something about the war, and I respect the man for allowing his son to serve and the decision not to capitalize on it.

During the 2000 election, I was going to vote for Bradley first, McCain second, and Gore a distant third. This election I plan on voting for Barack over McCain, but I would have to think twice if it was Hillary. She is proving the Clintons are liars again and given the problems she has leading her campaign, I wonder if running a country is within her powers.

Even Barack, who I respect immensely, does not compare to McCain. He has served our country his entire adult life, and while I do not think he is the perfect person, I have to respect his service. Barack has not been selfish but he does not have the record that McCain has.

either way, allah would be beaming

Obviously him being a target makes it more dangerous for the blokes around him as well. Dunno if I'd be that impressed if he was in my unit.
