new dirt jumper

i got a trek ex6. i wanna do downhill and dirt jumping. should i go with a hardtail. or can i stay with this bike for dirt jumping?

A hardtail would be better. Most jumps that are set up for suspension are built big and would eat your bike.

if you want to do dh and dj, you'd be hard pressed to build a bike that would excel at both. if you built if burly enough for DH, it would be a beast to manhandle for DJ. my $.02 get one bike for each.
