So has anyone else heard anymore about what is going on at Wolf for 2008? I know Ryan has been hard at work with them on a Bike Park and DH race, but is there any more news?

Ryan if you are out there can you give us an update?

Anyone else know anything?

Ironically I ran into Ryan at Bent Creek about 30 min ago. It sounds like the bike park is going to happen. I'm not sure if it's 100% or not but I know it's close.

With low interest rates and plenty of wrinkled old balls from Florida they probably won't have trouble!

Those old balls from FL are taking a bath right now. The real estate market in South Florida is on par with Arizona and California...overpriced and not selling. Hurricanes and high insurance rates are hurting their markets bad. At one point in the fall, most major lenders put a complete hold on any new loans in Dade and Broward county.

If they can't sell...they can't buy here. I worked for a developer selling to those same shmoes at the first of this year and if they're from FL, they are stuck right now.

Hey Florida fags, I'm going to be up in North Ga. from the 4/16 til the 26th. I'd like to ride Clemson and Paris Mt. Dave, I think I still have your #. I'll open another post later. Also would like to ride Carters. Maybe, Windrock. Later.

We all know Florida sucks - thats why everyone lives here now. I'm going to have to move to get away from you Floridiots:biggrin:
Before I get hated on, I'm kidding - I moved from there 8 years ago myself.

Anyway, to get back on topic: does anyone have any concrete information about this bike park????

IS it gonna happen? Seems like alot of people in the Asheville area could stand to benefit from it. Riding for some.. and Jobs for others. I sure would love to have a job working for a bike park.. and it seems like running a few skid steers to push up a slope style and DH track wouldn't cost that much. Wolf seems like they're scared to just go for it.. Is it that they think all the DH'ers and Freeriders with expensive bikes that average 2g, are not gonna buy lift ticks. Are they right? I wonder if Whistler had enough tick sales to pay for the lift op. the first year they opened? and I know Wolf is small and all but that seems like all the more reason for them to GO FOR IT! I hope to come home from Oregon and be able to ride at Wolf on the dirt and the snow! It would be so cool if you could ride bikes there all year long.. the lifts could be multi-use and have bikes and skiiers at the same time.. most of the winter the woods are clear of snow and the slopes have just enough man made snow for skiing and bording to be possible .. So why not have both going on at once? ... and I would love to work there too! must have a row of huge ass DJ's though! more of my 2 cents.. Bo

Wolf wants to sell every piece of dirt between the top of the mountain all the way to the bottom. If you look on their sales map inside the lodge, every inch of that place has been platted out for homes and roads.

I can't imagine trying to build more than 1 or 2 trails on the new side of the mountain with that going on? But it CAN happen. They even sold a big hunk of the mountain right in the middle of the old main slope and put a massive tunnel under the slope...but you can still route trail around that area and have a lot to ride.

If anyone wants to talk to Ryan, it's mbrp07@yahoo.com. He doesn't come on here much.

Never thought of it that way, but your right the woods hardly ever has any snow in it even in the dead of winter. I wish somebody would do something lift accessed around here. I've seen pics of your stashes in Oregon - seems like you have the best of both worlds out there between low elevation biking and higher elevation boarding.

Got a call from Ryan Taylor this morning with some good news and he has asked me to post a little information about what is going on up at Wolf in NC.

26 West Bike Park will Open June 1st. The park will only be open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays with lift tickets under $25 for the first season of operation. There are 6 new trails being cut right now. Expect to see trails from easy to advance as they need to cater to all riders. Trails are being cut on the new side of the mountain on about 400 acres of land with longer decents than the old race trails we had back in the day on the main side of the mountain. What to expect to see on some of the new trails, FreeRide Stunts, "Rocks", and a Jump Line. He is thinking trail runs can be as long as anywhere from 4mins+ to 7mins+. DJ's will also be made for those wanting to play on them. Ryan plans to have 2 late of the year Races also and dates will be posted later. There will be some volunteer work days that will be posted later as well and those that come out to help will receive 1 day lift tickets.

Ryan has been working for a long time to make this happen for us here in the South East and is very happy to see all his hard work starting to pay off. So if you want to see this bike park grow over the next few years into something really big for us, please plan to help support it grow and go ride there!!!!

Ryan’s E-Mail is mbrp@yahoo.com if you have any questions for him. There will be a new Thread started by him later this week that will be the official Wolf/26 West Bike Park Thread.

Yah, I have been thinking the same, but this is what Ryan is calling it. The name doesn't really matter to me as long as there is a bike park!!!!

I think it's named after I26 which runs right beside it - and it's West of Asheville.
