I'd like to know where I can find a fin like the one pros like Hill and peat, I'm pretty sure it's not the one that Troy lee is selling. I tried to find one last year but couldn't... if I want one, should I do it myself???
Thanks
Vincent

What do they do exactly? Vent heat better? hold your goggle strap on better? Make you look like a cadillac? I always wondered...

or as TLD states on their site

quote:
The second generation of the most successful helmet accessory on the market, the super-stylized Speed Wing – can be installed in only seconds and fits most helmets. "Looks fast while standing still."
damn, i need one of those... ;-)

well obviously, at high speeds, it keeps your head more stable so you can ride better.......kinda like a wing on a honda civic :twitch:

but honestly, they do look cool.....lots of motorcycle helmet companies make them......dirt bikers love them.....

people tend to emphasize on cool rather than on practical

if anyone on here would emphasys on practical all the time, no one would buy D2's in the first place... a speed wing is maybe not practical but it will not be a negative point on performance just like a paint job or one of the thounsand things we do to just look cool.

they were originally used to make riders stand out in the pack during mx races and such. thats about the only practical thing about the fins

good luck.....those things have been gone forever.....tld has a bunch kicking around for custom jobs, but aside from that no one gets them

they dont fit on TLD helmets. Those were made back in the Shoei days. You'll have to fab em to get em on a D2. I had one laying around and cut it with a scissors to check it out. Get two and put em on each side!

you can still find them on ebay or do a google search. i've got one that i'm going to paint up on a new lid this year.

they don't fit all the newer lids.. w/ some trimming, they fit fine on a D2. & fit w/ no problem on any helmet that's big, round & smooth.... otherwise you'll have to do a bunch of trimming or it'll look goofy

it's just for looks.. no practical usage.

Haha! Who the hell just babbled about practicality on a MOUNTAIN BIKE FORUM!!!!?????? Wrong world, budday!
Bring on the fins, L.E.D.s, custom paint and $700 skull bumpers!
Hell...if it wasn't for completely impractical and impulsive people like mtn bikers and MXers..... Peeps like Dylan would be REALLY DAMN BORED, BROKE, and prob in jail for taggin old walls in alleys just to get it out of his system!

That's going to look so sweet right behind the forward facing confetti cannon I just installed on my helmet.

Don't matter if you're in front or behind me. It's always a party.
