I'm going to be in herdon for a week in march - I'm looking for somewhere to ride. Any help would be great!

colt's neck/difficult run (http://www.more-mtb.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1197) is a decent xc ride
head over to A-1 cycles (http://www.a1cycling.com/) to find out about dirt jumps

yeah Rob or Sarkis at A1 are awesome guys they'll help you out.
Here's another good link to the lake fairfax portion of that trail:

one wurd of advice on the Lake Fairfax/Difficult Run trails, in march unless there's been a dry spell you're likely to find large quantities of peanut butter mud, if it's been wet, try Wakefield Park in Annandale, it tends to drain a lot better.
alternatively you could try the "south" end of Reston, Fox Mill District Park, a shorter but nice section of trails.
The trails starts off Foxclove rd, see map:

I used to live off difficult run trail. Not too bad for a XC ride in the afternoon. Beats the hell out of pavement.
