something truly weird about this recent sex scandal involving the detroit mayor:
google news search results for mayor "Kwame Kilpatrick" (http://news.google.com/news?oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&client=firefox-a&um=1&hl=en&resnum=1&ct=title&q=mayor+%22Kwame+Kilpatrick%22+&btnG=Search+News) yields around 1,000 hits.
google news search results for mayor "Kwame Kilpatrick" democrat (http://news.google.com/news?oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&client=firefox-a&um=1&hl=en&resnum=1&ct=title&q=%22Kwame+Kilpatrick%22+democrat+mayor+&btnG=Search+News) yields around a dozen hits. the first one is from a newspaper called the tallahassee democrat, and the rest are end-of-week wrap ups which have others as democrats.
no stories aggregated & collected by google in the last 30 days name him as a democrat. now why is that?
that fat-ass lawmaker from s.d. (ted klaudt) was clearly advertised as being a republican representative half the time when reporting on his recent conviction of buggering his foster kids. now why is that?
is it newsworthy when a republican has severe moral failings, but nothing more than a dog-bites-man story when a democrat does? am i the only one here who sees more soft bigotry of low expectations?

Meh. Dude pokes a consenting age adult female. That's pretty universal accross party lines.
Them republicans get the shaft because they're part of the moral majority supporting family values. Atheist heathen lefties on the other hand are expected to engage in such behavior as they succeed in tearing apart the moral fabric upon which this great god fearing nation was founded.
Not sure where race comes into play either way.

Repubs have set the bar pretty high; replace the woman with a little boy and the Dems would be newsworthy.

The guy's black. Of course he's a Democrat. Finding a black Republican is like finding a pro-choice nun.
They might be out there, but you really have to look for them...

in keeping w/ our country's racist correctional system: Kilpatrick lawyer expects Cox to charge mayor, perhaps soon (http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080807/NEWS01/808070381/1003/NEWS)
"perhaps soon"? is he trying to say something about the tardiness of certain demographics?

John Edwards repeatedly lied during his Presidential campaign about an extramarital affair with a novice filmmaker, the former Senator admitted to ABC News today.
In an interview for broadcast tonight on Nightline, Edwards told ABC News correspondent Bob Woodruff he did have an affair with 44-year old Rielle Hunter, but said that he did not love her.
Edwards also denied he was the father of Hunter's baby girl, Frances Quinn, although the one-time Democratic Presidential candidate said he has not taken a paternity test.
Edwards said he knew he was not the father based on timing of the baby's birth on February 27, 2008. He said his affair ended too soon for him to have been the father.
According to friends of Hunter, Edwards met her at a New York city bar in 2006. His political action committee later paid her $114,000 to produce campaign website documentaries despite her lack of experience.
Edwards said the affair began during the campaign after she was hired. Hunter traveled with Edwards around the country and to Africa.
Edwards said his wife, Elizabeth, and others in his family became aware of the affair in 2006.
Edwards made a point of telling Woodruff that his wife's cancer was in remission when he began the affair with Hunter. Elizabeth Edwards has since been diagnosed with an incurable form of the disease.
When the National Enquirer first reported the alleged Edwards-Hunter affair last October 11, Edwards, his campaign staff and Hunter vociferously denounced the report.
"The story is false, it's completely untrue, it's ridiculous," Edwards told reporters then.
He repeated his denials just two weeks ago.
Edwards today admitted the National Enquirer was correct when it reported he had visited Hunter at the Beverly Hills Hilton last month.
The former Senator said his wife had not known about the meeting.

That has to be some sort of campaign finance law violation there...and if it isn't, it damn well should be.

Oooh, I forgot to read page 2. Gold.
Edwards denied paying any money to Hunter to keep her from going public but said it was possible some of his friends or supporters may have made payments without telling him.
He said he would ask questions about any possible arrangement.

Why would they be worried about being racist, you can almost always tell which political party someone is part of based on the gender of the person they have an affair with.
