Pump track hidden somewhere in Monterey for me this weekend! Just got done with a rather impressive berm and little kicker last weekend and I'm stoked to try it out.

Normally I'd be down, but Josh only has his 140mm Snyper, and he's only got one ride on it. I was thinking more of a Trail/AM ride.
Plus, Boyscout is going to be an absolutely mess right now with the storms.

Let me give you a little update on my iPhone to that list:
-Can customize ringtones with your own mp3s:
Yes. Hacked iPhones you can.
-Can send MMS messages:
Yes, there is a MMS app that works. Also email works just fine.
- Instant messaging:
Yep, I have an app on there right now that works awesome.
-Can record voice:
Yep, also a app for that.
Anyways, I am game to ride wherever. I have never been to carlmont. I have heard its good during the winter too.

Haha... I was just giving you "S" since Emily was making fun of you for being attached at the dong to that iPhone. They are bad*ss, and I approve. If Verizon offered them, I'd be SUPER down.
On a side note, Carlmont is about 30 minutes from my place in Santa Clara. I'd be down to ride there, but I'd definitely be bringing the big bike and leaving the green bike at home. I was kinda' itching for a fast and flowy trail ride though. Just still not too sure where I want to go.
Our options are Demo, UC, Gap, Pacifica, DMC, Skeggs, Briones, Side-O, and a bunch of other places. But I seem to keep coming up with good and valid reasons to not go to each of these places... except UC.
I think I could be down for a double-looper at UC.
Total Heckler
01-10-2008, 03:50 PM
I would be game for that. Possibly even shuttled if we could find people willing to do so.
So UC then?
Prettym1k3
01-10-2008, 04:09 PM
Let's plan for UC.
I don't care if it's cold. Can we meet at the bottom of Rincon at 9:30?
I'll bring the green bike. Then we're on the same plain.

Last ride I did Wednesday before the storm on Friday the trails were perfect. Did a lot of trees get taken down?
Prettym1k3

I'm prepared to move large branches and jump over the larger trees that will need a chain saw. That doesn't bother me all too much.

Haha...
I haven't climbed UP a hill on a bike in quite some time. I did make it all the way up Santa Teresa but I took a few breaks while waiting for a friends.
But the climb up Rincon is a cake-walk on a light-travel, light-weight bike.
Just remember, Josh. Your new like is most than 10lbs. lighter, with better angles, and less travel.
You should rip up this climb in no time flat.

Come on Brian...you know you want to ride with us...
Prettym1k3
01-10-2008, 05:39 PM
Come on BRIAN! Let's rock and roll.
Here's my impression of an evening, at Big Bri's house:
"Oh, son?"
"Yeah dad?"
"How'd you like to go FISHING this weekend?"
"Great dad! But I've got homework to do."
"That's okay, son! You can bring it on the boat!"
Name that movie, and you win a cookie.
--------------------
On a side note, since we'll be out there making two loops, I think it would be prudent of us to make it clear that stopping to clear a trail of logs, branches, debris, etc. will be part of the ride. I'd like to clean up the trail so that when it dries out, the trail will TRULY dry out.
You all okay with that?
Total Heckler
01-10-2008, 05:57 PM
I'm alright with that. My buddy Tyler was thinking of joining us. He does not ride up. If he comes we will be able to shuttle. He isnt an early morning person, so we might be able to do 1 run up/down then shuttle 1-3 more. =]

They are 19x8.5's. They are about as light as my old 17x7.5 wheels. I don't know how much they weighed.
Were meeting at 9:30am. I think we should shuttle.
Brian what bike are you bringing? Are we going to have a short travel madness ride?
Prettym1k3
01-11-2008, 01:51 PM
If we're shuttling, then I want to bring out the big-daddy. Although, maybe not. Depends on what trails we're going to do.
To be honest, my green bike pedals so much better, maybe I'll just bring that bike anyway and we'll just have to avoid dead campers. I'm sure Josh doesn't want to do anything like DC on his Snyper anyway.
I have my truck too, so if we wanted to shuttle, I suppose that'll be cool.
I VOTE FOR SHORT TRAVEL SATURDAY MADNESS!
bdamschen
01-11-2008, 03:47 PM
Hahah, well seeing as how the big one only has a 40 tooth front ring and road cassette, I will also bring my short travel saturday maddness bike- just in case I have to ride up anything. As far as trails, I'm down for whatever, DC included. No road gapping for me tho :)
Total Heckler
01-11-2008, 04:03 PM
I think we will be good with some:
-Sweetness
-Maybe hit up super sweet / z's
-Evans trail (heard its sick right now)
-Airborne
-Peabody/Sidewinder
-Etc.
I'm ok with maybe skipping DC, Twister, etc. since I am not too confident with my riding abilities just yet. Well see how the day goes.
Awesome. SHORT TRAVEL SATURDAY MADNESS is on!
Prettym1k3
01-11-2008, 04:38 PM
Short Travel Saturday Madness is gonna' be awesome.
I don't think I've ever ridden Twister before, but DC is out of the question for me. The angles on my MkIII are just all bad for that trial. Plus, I'm terrible at picking lines on that trail on my big bike as it is. I won't be any better on my MkIII.
9:30 at Rincon.
Are we gonna' shuttle like crazy? Or what?

Prettym1k3
01-11-2008, 05:12 PM
I have a bench seat in my Tundra, so technically I can fit six people in my truck (including myself).
I would like to ride to the top at least once and get my <3 pumping for a few minutes.
After that, we can shuttle at least once or twice if you'd like.
I gotta' be back over the hill on the Silicon Valley side by 2:00pm. That gives us 3 and a 1/2 hours of riding. Plenty of time for 1 full loop and then two shuttles.
-Mike
Total Heckler
01-11-2008, 05:15 PM
Hmm...
Well I think my buddy Tyler may be showing up a little later. So maybe start off doing 1 loop up/down. Then shuttle however many times we want to afterwards?
Prettym1k3
01-11-2008, 05:19 PM
That works for me.
Josh... I'm gonna' ride behind you and make you hammer up Rincon trail all the way to the top.
And if you don't drop the Hammer, I'm going to poke you with a stick with doodoo on the end of it, repeatedly. You'll go home and your other half will be like... "So, you went riding. Why do you smell like doodoo? Is that HUMAN feces?!?!?!?!"

So wait... you're going to poop on the stick first? Or is your first poke into josh just going to be a doozie?
Depends on how big the hammer Josh drops is.
If it's a rock hammer, circa' Shawshank Redemption...,,
But if it's a American Gladiator's sized hammer, then I'll go easy. :monkey:
First loop up to the top hurts. The second loop is actually easier because you're warm. I almost always stop and take at least one break on the short ride to the top the first time. The second time, no stops. Just pound it out.
Three loops? Never tried it. But I'd imagine that if I can do two on my 45lb. 7" travel, 36t/11-32 bike, that I should be able to plow through three loops on my 32lb. 5" travel 34/11-34 bike.
Of course, I'm not interested in finding out tomorrow morning. :-)

I'm always down for a Short Travel Madness Saturday!
Although, to be honest, you all should come out and do a Short Travel Madness Night Ride (at a certain local place that shall remain nameless... but I'll be riding there tomorrow (Tuesday) night). We'll be leaving San Jose at about 9:00pm, and getting to the parking area around 9:30 or so. The entire loop should only take about 2 and a 1/2 hours. If you want in, let me know.
Anyway, it was great meeting you guys (and gals). Todd, Kelly, Brian... FINALLY nice to meet you. All of you had me sliding around some of those berms that normally scare the doodoo out of me. Glad I had you there to push my limits.

9:45 sounds good to me on saturday. It will be my brother and I, as Grant works saturday. Will be in a brown chevy, and ill be on a RAW colored sinister r9. You guys should be fine on smaller bikes, i rode crack mile and BS with no probs on my enduro sl a few weeks ago b/c i destroyed the BB on my dh bike, makes you really work with a 6 inch bike:clapping:

Awesome man.
This guy I met out there last month named Steve Wentz (rides for Turner) will be taggin' along. He managed a freeride park in Colorado. Just moved out here. Great guy. Total trail builder too. And he's fast.
This is his bike and him talking about it:

Here's a video of him. http://bncproductions.net/mountainbikingsteveW.html
Super nice guy, great rider, and a definite friend of the trails.

Heh, there's a pretty good chance I won't be able to keep up w/ Steve...
Kelly and I will probably only get a few runs in before we have to take off, but we're totally going. I'll bring the little bike if my new chain shows up before then.
*edit* is it just me or is Wentz not wearing gloves in his video??

Why don't you come out and ride with us and tell him yourself?
Bring that sexy IH steed? Or are you going the way of FSR for a big-bike too? J/k. :busted:
I'll tell him you said what's up.

I'm pretty sure he isn't wearing gloves... I noticed that.
You guys will have an absolute blast. Personally, I'd bring the big bikes. The entire ride is paved road and no more than 30 minutes to the top. Then it's a 15 minute hike-a-bike. Again, not too bad. But coming down on a big bike is super fun. But if you're plenty comfortable on your short-travel bike, then you guys can keep the short-travel madness Saturday alive and kickin' this coming Saturday!

Whooaa, someone has been coding to much or something!Im up for a little nite ride if Im not totally beat.Hey were you planning on taking the 1 up to Pacifica or goin around ,like 17 to 280,if your doin 17 I can just meet u at your place at 8ish,Im not sure which way is faster since I have never been there before.Maybe Mike can chime in here.
Prettym1k3
01-17-2008, 11:15 AM
Well, personally, from your guys' places, I would take 17 to the 1, and then jam down Highway 1 in the morning. But on your way home, the 1 gets clogged up with Half Moon Bay people puttin' down the freeway. So on the way home, take 280 to 17.
From Scott's Valley you should be able to make it to Pacific in about an hour down the 1. On your way home taking 280 to 17, should take you about an hour and 15, give or take a few.
Josh, I think you mean: "S.S.T.M.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111111111oneoneoneJUAN"

What about Taco Hell around 9:45ish? I'm a little slow in the mornings. =]

I'm down for Wednesday, I think. Getting back at a reasonable hour would be ideal, too.
I'm night riding downtown San Jose on Tuesday night for a few hours. Wednesday should be totally open as far as night riding goes. I'm down for some UC action.
BTW, Josh... at night... we ride to the top... TWICE.

Thanks again everyone!
Props to the trail builders out there, too. You guys do an amazing job, and if you hit me up with a message next time you're out there builing, I'd love to come and help.

Looks like next weekends photo shoot may be a no go.
So weird since I checked the weather on saturday and it said this week would be sunny and clear. Now its supposed to rain every day this week.
I might be game to ride and shoot in some mud, but a no go if there will be rain.

But the Crack is AWESOME after a short rain because it clears out the trail really well.

When I was going over around 5:30 or so, the ground was lightly covered. This morning when I went by on the summit there was a bunch on everything around the road.
