Saw this 29er from Avanti Bikes (Aussie/NZ brand) and I really dig it.

I like the looks and the simple panels they used for it. Question, is this the same frame and fork as the Raleigh XXIX?

Here's the Raleigh for comparison - they sure look similar, but there is something about the paint/panel scheme on that Avanti that really works for it. http://www.raleighusa.com/images/items/Hardtail/full/2008/R08_XXIX_Blue-f.jpg

Upon closer inspection I see a couple of differences. The avanti looks to have straight seat stays whereas the Raleigh's look to have a bit of a bend to em?

Whattya think folks?

Change the brakes and the pedals and I'd ride it. Looks nice.

I think you'd have to travel to Aussie or Kiwi Land to get it - but hey it is summer there right now right? ;)

Sure does look like they're from the same plant line! Not that thats a bad thing....I like them both. The Raleigh is understated, and the Avanti is classic.

And if you like, I have contacts in Aussiland that could get one of them and ship it up here....

Ridemonkey test crew would be ready! :clapping:

Edit: I also noticed they have a geared 29er with a cheap suspension fork as well - but it isn't nearly as classic looking as this KISS.

I'll agree with martini. I think it's definitely from the same factory. You can specify tubing differences, so the seat stays are probably cheaper on the Avanti then they are on the Raleigh, but the drop outs and the fork are dead on for an XXIX.

Amazing what a paint job will do for a bike, huh?

Of course, show me a bike with panels and I'll show you a bike I like!

Take a look at this pic of my new KISS, it shows the stays at a different angle. Much more like the XXIX jobbies.

The friendly chap at the LBS used to work in New Zealand and he had a XXIX over there, he seemed to think they were pretty much the same frameset.

Either way I did over 100km on it over easter all through daisy hill & gap creek .. what a bunch of fun it is!!

I hate to be a ballbuster... But all these damn "panel" paintjobs on niners is really getting old... It seems thats the hawt rage right now

Huh? It does? I can't really think of many that use panels to be honest with you. Examples?
