The engagement is average, like a shimano or comprable, and no they arent very loud. Im pretty sure it is the same hub, at least internally, as an azonic outlaw. One of the best deals for DH wheels availible.

The hub is a Joytech hub. As inedible said, its not very loud. Not too much engagement but its a good deal.

they're nothing special but they are cheap and pretty tough.

A few friends of mine have them, the rear hub is louder then most wheels in the price range, IMO. And they're solid for the money, not to mention sick colors considering what you pay.
(Especially compared to my FULL Red Atomlab Pimps...:-/)

I'm looking for a hub also. I was wondering which is the loudest because I'm looking for the best available hub out there.
loud doesn't mean good necessarily. DT hubs are the longest lasting hubs you can buy. The star ratchet runs forever, the bearings are sealed better than most, the shells are strong - and they're quiet.
The hubs that came stock on the IronHorse 150mm bikes this past year were really loud...and certainly were not that great.
If you want a loud hub, open up your freehub, spray the pawls down with solvent, remove some of the sealing and pull the springs longer.
Or buy a Ringle

hope pro IIs are pretty loud

but the TBC wheels are probably one of the best deals in mountain biking right now. they are priced great, hold up really well, and come in a choice of colors

tbc wheels are comparable to the azonics. i found the engagement to be loads faster than the XT hubs i've run. it isn't instant, but it is close enough for me.
for the best available hub, check the new I9 ones that are coming out. they are making them for standard spokes now.

kings are not loud if they're properly greased

Do like WBC said, remove all the grease from your hub and it'll be loud.... :D
Or you could just get one of these:

i have revolutions and their nice but the front hub wiggles a bit not always consistent over uneven terrain. also i dont know if its all of them but my black ones dont grip tires so the bead comes off every once in a while. i run holyrollers at 55psi and a 2.1 tube on a 2.4 tire

They're ok.
Good price, fairly solid.
They're pretty heavy (I think), but so are other wheels at that price.
Mine isn't loud at all.
