View Full Version : I've made a decision

I'm going to sell off on or two of my road bikes.
I've wanted a Colnago C50 for a while, and as I was laying in bed last night, I realized that I just have too many bikes. Yeah, it took this long.
I haven't really even ridden my 585 Ultra, so that one's going for sure. It's a great bike, I just never really "clicked" with it. My old, beat-up 555 though, I just love. Funny how that works huh?

So I'm pretty stoked with my choice. A C50 in the color I want, hopefully SRAM Red, and some choice wheels.

Merry Christmas whore.

I didn't really intend for it to come out that way, sorry!
I just have too many bikes, so I'm going to off a bunch of them, on the MTB side too. If they don't get ridden, what's the point really?

Art, bitch.

Don't sell them, go out and buy very large display cases.

Buy a bigger house too.

Can you provide a photo of said 585? I would love the opportunity to just  over it.

You need to go make some Kids so you will have some one to hand them down too.

Wow, that bike is dead sexy. Thanks!

Yeah, thanks, it really is. But I just never really fell in love with it, I don't know why. On paper it's got pretty much the exact same geometry as my 555, but we just never got along as well.
I won't off it with those wheels, but hopefully should be able to fund the new bike with it...

what size and what bikes are you going to sell. I know of someone looking for a 57cm road bike at the $1K price point.

Can you help with that?

Cheers,

Mark

I know what ya mean. I love my Surly more than my custom roadie *shrugs*

That is great to hear though! Think about it - the bike you love is the one you now get to ride and enjoy. So there is/was a silver lining in having that Waltworks stolen after all.

I would like a 57cm road bike. Do you accept RM credits for payment?

You are the second guy I "know" that is looking for that size bike now. Weird.

Westy - might be worth it to pay a visit to the Serotta forum - there are always really great road bikes up for sale there. :monkeydance:

I had an opportunity with a good sponsorship this year but turned it down as it meant I would have to replace my current XC bike.

Well, that 585 is a 57, but I don't think $1k would cover it, sorry!

It's amazing what a personal connection to the bike can do, I like my 555 was the first bike I really "fell in love with," so I don't intend on getting rid of it anytime soon. A new group this year breathed a whole bunch of fresh air into it. And I love what swapping wheels can do to the ride, that's always fun.

Same thing happened to me last year, but I went with it and switched cross bike. I loved the old cross bike and, luckily, I love the new one as well

I absolutely agree.

It's like the fact that I found my wife due to a serious of circumstances starting off with my ex cheating on me :D And my wife rocks!

Also, the insurance money (80% value :/ ) allowed me to get the Surly and the single-speed! :D

A cheating ex. I can relate to that.

Awesome that you scored two fun bikes to replace one. :thumb:

I'm renting, and I don't have a garage anymore, so my second bedroom can only hold so much!
Plus, what's the point of having a bike that you really don't ride?

The C50 I want won't be here until January or so, but that's fine, that's about when I should be getting Red stuff, so it all works out!

Based on the number of bikes you seem to have, that's either a really big second room or it's crazy packed...I have the same situation and my second bedroom is pretty much packed too. I've "only" got 6 bikes, and they hang in a pretty compact way, but I've also got all my tools and gear in there.

It'll be more packed when I get all of the various frames, etc, that are currently stuck in closets, downstairs, etc, after my move in there. Will probably do some sort of wall-hanging thing for them, just not sure how yet.
Your room looks pretty well put together, nice!
I need to have room for a desk/computer in there too, and the corner piece from my sectional that didn't fit downstairs, so it'll be a bit of a tight squeeze...

Thanks. That's an industrial strength garment rack (bridal gown size!) with some custom hooks I McGyver'd up. Much more compact than the usual spacing, since I can slide the bikes together once they're hanging. I can get 6 complete bikes on there no problem. I end up with a few more dings than I might get otherwise but it's worth it.

PS: Got any track frames in a 57 or so you want to get rid of? PM me if so.

MacGyver eh?
Sorry, no trackies. I haven't even built one of those up for me yet...

I drool over that Colnago Master Pista with the wood wheels I built for the show every day when I walk past it though. But it's not mine.
Sigh...
