So I started dirt jumping on a 26" and feel like moving on to a 20" I love my 26" to death but after trying out a 20" on a few jumps I felt a world of difference. I'm 5'6" with legs that are no longer than my arms(freaky right?) so moving about on even the smallest adult mtb is a chore and jumping one feels like driving a cadillac in an autocross(i've tried it)

Anyways.......

now I'm looking for a 20" I've been looking at the eastern traildigger and it seems like a good deal but I'm new with 20's so I came here for help. So is there anyone here that can give me an honest opinion on this bike? I don't want to break the bank or anything but I'm familiar with "you get what you pay for".

Now I'm used to looking at mtb stuff and every frame I've looked at is always uniformly made out of the same metal. This traildigger has a downtube that's cromo but the rest is steel? That is raising some concern with me. Is this normal/good/bad? Should I step up and buy the higher model?

What I'm looking for is a bike that I would primarily ride at the local trails but still have fun with it at paved and wooden parks. Oh yeah my budget is max $400. I'm thinking that this bike will eventually become a replacement *sniff* for my cdale chase. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Chromo is just a particular alloy of steel. Lots of companies mix tube sets on their frames to acheive lower price points. Wish I could help you with recommendations on the frame itself, but no personal experience.

I'm pretty sure we have got some grom posting under several screen names.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand the problem with his question. I may have missed something in another post or something, but he is just asking for help trying to buy a bike, bmx or not.

As far the the Traildigger goes it's a good started bike. There isn't anything faincy about it, and it may be a bit heavy, but its always upgradable and should be a fun little ride. You may want to step up to the new Element, its a little over $400 and has a better parts spec.

Awesome thanks for the help...I'll look into the Element as well. Hmmm, it seems that all the spam-like posts coming from bmxerdude, gedi.s, and a few others has everyone on alert. I assure this board that I am a totally different person. :)

eastern looks decent but personally i would stay away from hi-tensile steel frames. for a little more $$ you can get a fit complete that is full cromo.

Well I ended up with the Eastern Element. I like how it rode and it was available locally. I went on a ride right after I got it home and swapped pedals, it was a blast! I trust everyones opinion here as I know that most of you are seasoned riders. I just had too many bad experiences with ordering a bike before I even test ride it. Maybe if the lbs where I lived had a bigger variety I could try other brands but the shops around here are all about the road bikers.

Congrats man, I think it was a good move with the Element rather than the other one. I love my little bike, its just way too much fun.

Thanks man...it's an awesome bike. Now I just gotta swap pedals on the thing. I'm pretty much in love with these pedals I got from Transition bikes, they are the grippiest thing I've ever used but, I'm not sure how they would handle street use on a bike with no suspension.

You shouldn't have a problem with those, get 'em on there.
