Thanks again to everyone who helped me with advice about everything from the big decision of the frame (thanks Mark!) to which wheels, etc.

Big thanks to Pedal Pushers Cyclery (http://www.pedalpusherscyclery.com/) for doing all the difficult assembly, their patience with my sending them a handful of emails requesting stuff, and just being awesome.

Did a 55 mile unloaded -- I say that since it's a touring bike -- yesterday and it rode amazing. I was concerned cuz people were saying that with the longer chain stay, it would feel sluggish. Maybe it felt VERY responsive cuz I was on 26" vs 700c?

I don't know if it was just that I had to lower my saddle 0.25cm compared to my previous roadie due to the different geometry -or- that I've been commuting on a single-speed to work for some months now or what, but I was spinning pretty fast and easy, so I looked at my computer and I was doing 105rpms. Previously, I was only able to do it that comfortably at 97-98rpms. So, yippie! :D

EDIT: Yes, gonna get a new saddle bag, probably black colored.

I hope the photos on your monitor do it some kind of justice...

And I figured if I'm going to join the Surlities... Surlytans? WTF is a group of Surlies? Anywho, got one...

Sweet! Glad you're enjoying it! Glad to see you finally got it together.
Doesn't Brooks make a saddle bag? That might be kinda cool...

This inspires me a lot. Right now, I'm teetering on making my cross check a ss road bike. I'm trying to lighten it up by losing the drive train components. I keep hearing it's a bad idea to have a s/s road bike even though the fixie concept is all the rage.

That looks really classy. Well done.

How is the fit compared to your Waltworks??

Keep that one. Looks good. Once your ass has correctly broken in you won't want any other saddle. (except maybe a black Brooks)

Note: Brooks don't really break in, your ass does.

Looks good! I dig the look of the Brooks saddle with the leather bar tape!

I LOVE my wife and my life, but damn, I do want to load up and ride across the mutha-fockin' country!

Who's saying that and why?

Thanks! Yeah, I might have to go with a leather bag :)

Thanks!

Ya know, I'm not sure. I really want to think that my Walt was 'better' for me somehow considering all the time and money I put into getting a custom roadie, but this bike is pretty sweet and might even be better geometry-wise.

I would definitely rather have TWO LHTs than one custom :D

Agreed! I've been riding Brooks for a couple-three years now and love that I don't get numb or rash... ever. I hate assbutter.

Thanks! I'm gonna put some Proofide leather treatment on the tape and hope it darkens up like the saddle did and match a little better.

It should darken by use and the oils from hands.

*or maroon or purple or whatever they call it.

Good to know about the bartape darkening :)

I saw a LHT frameset build up at a local shop last year in the burgundy paint and it looked great. Your photos look even nicer. It's a very versatile frame.

that's cuz I used the compression engine of ".love" :D

It's a very versatile frame.
It is! It'll be my roadie and commuter and if I ever need to do touring or utility cycling... it's all good.

Awesome bike!

[...] but damn, I do want to load up and ride across the mutha-fockin' country!

^Why I don't have one of those bikes (yet). It would almost certainly cause a surprisingly foolish and epic journey.

Holy snow already!

We got some yesterday too - but it'll all be melted off by Turkey day.
