suppose you wanted a new laptop, but could wait for when prices are typically at their lowest?

Black Friday, after xmas, after new year?

Wait 6 months and get the laptop you wanted originally. By then it will probably be considered a lower spec and probably cheaper.

For Dell, you can always pick up good deals at the end of their fiscal quarters. I can't remember when they are right now, but it's pretty evident when you'll see a bunch of cheap deals on the bargain websites all at once. They always try to push a bunch of sales at the end of the quarter to boost numbers.

Otherwise, black Friday is probably the best time to buy a laptop in-store.

Not really a big deal either way, I don't notice much in the way of large fluctuations in laptop prices. Lenovo is usually running a 15-20% off laptops deal which can net you some good prices on very high quality laptops. Dell always has a few decent deals.
