Want to run a 8" fork on my 7.3 IH but not to sure if the geometry will falter, also could use more advice on an unbeatable smooth ride with durability, so far the boxxer and 888's seem the way to go but have never tested either one of them.

I just took an '05 888RC (8") off my 7point. The geometry was totally fine when used with flat crowns. I even had the crowns adjusted toward the MAX mark on the stanchions. This gave a 66 degree or so HA. You'll be fine. The 7point has a rather steep stock HA to begin with. Good luck!

Any suggestions on excellent forks for DH and FR,also why did you take your o5 888's off any particular reason?

. . . why did you take your o5 888's off any particular reason?

I just put on an '07 66RC2X. I've been riding more XC-type stuff lately, hence the switch. I loved the 8" 888 on the bike, though.

fortunately the 7. has a 1.5 head tube so even if the 8in dual crown is two tall you can switch to an integrated reducer headset. that will steepen the head angle about .5 of a degree and bring it closer to where it was.
