So one of the anchors for the retaining clip of my chipset heatsink just popped out of the motherboard on my Dell Dimension 4600c.

The site and the online tech are saying I have to buy a replacement assembly and Fan???

There is a little anchor, like a U-bolt with arrowhead shaped tips that pop into the motherboard. They serve as anchors for the silver clip that holds the heat sink down.

I am going to pop it back in the hole, but I assume the hole will be wallowed out a bit and it won't stay long.

Can anyone recommend a bonding agent or glue I could use to keep it in there and still allow current to flow?

The arrowhead shaped tips can have the prongs pried back to hold in place.

The tip is shaped like this, right: \|/

Just stick a knife tip in between the prong and the spear, and pry it back a little bit.

And then jam a small piece of paper clip in between the prongs of the arrow tip thingy to keep it spread apart so it won't come out.

Or just glue the fvcker.

Funny the tech said to buy a new fan.

On a part that doesn't have a fan to begin with.

I wonder if Bizutch was using his chick voice when he called...that's prolly what happened.

"Hi, I need the oil changed and the tires rotated."

"Got it. New oil pump and tires, right away Ma'am."

Computer techs are secretly mountian bikers.

I took my computer by a tech place today and they were scratching their heads at it. The called the big dog out and he took one look...and superglued it. I'm on the computer now.

Shopping for a new hard drive, etc this week. I assume superglue will not hold for too long.

Superglue is pretty stable, it might last forever. If not, a dab of epoxy will definitely last forever.
