My wheels - Edge Composites/ King cross

So, took those King cross hubs and built them up to some Edge Composites carbon tubular rims. Got a hair in my butt hole to go radial on the NDS rear, so i did.

Got wind of the rims a little while back when I saw some wheels in a cross article somewhere. Looked interesting, hadn't heard of them, figured what the hell. So I called them up and ordered a pair of the 38mm cross rims. I think I9 had some of the rims on their wheels at IB, and King's been working with them for some CX teams in the Oregon area.

I suppose one of their selling points is that the spoke holes on the rim are molded, as opposed to being cut out, supposedly increasing the strength of the rim. The guy I was talking to at Edge said he had yet to pull a nipple through the rim and was building the wheels up to typical alu rim specs and beyond. The only issue I have is the internal nipples. Pretty much the same ones that Reynolds uses. Unlike Reynolds, though, the nipple rests right up against the rim (the molding process allows the concave shaping of the spoke holes. Reynolds requires the little metal piece that's annoying as **** to deal with).

Rim profile is different from what I've seen on other carbon rims...I like the definite braking surface.

Weight....no clue. The wheels came out right at 1600gr. Pretty sure that's all hub, though...28h Kings with a SS freehub. Not exactly lightweight.

My only issue of concern is opposite the valve hole. Edge said some of the rims were having some issues with the braking surface bulging. Assured me that if I have issues, they'll take care of me.

The internal nipples really haven't been much of a factor for me so far, I haven't had to true any of the wheels yet.
Wheels look good, really good. Now let's see them on the bike!

I live in Oregon and I've seen some of those rims/wheels floating around. I gotta admit, living in this area I see some cool cross sh!t. Wheels look sweet, let us know how the rims hold up. Deep carbon rims have such a mean look :)

the edge guys have some nice stuff they are working on. seen some of their other stuff like tubesets and rear ends they are making for companies to use. it's quality. glad to see those rims came out nice. was thinking of using them for cross next season. maybe even for xc next year :)
