i think you are referring to the pike 454 dual air. i use to have one of those. its a pretty damn good fork. i used it as a mid weight fr fork and it never complained about the way that i rode it. it took more than one day at a dh park as well. while it was not enough travel really for the place it held up just fine.

thanks, but no not the dual air fork. a 05 sl is what im looking into buying. any comments about any pike are appreciated.

I either had the SL or Race, I'm not sure which. I never did any real jumping on it, but it was awesome for trails. The adjustability was very useful, although I did put a heavy spring in it (I'm about 185 pounds). I've heard people say that the crown will crack from repeated 180's and other spin stuff, but I don't know first hand. Hope this helps.

I ride a Pike 454 coil - hollow crown and alloy steerer. It's great as a trail fork, and has held up to decent abuse (couple of days at Diablo, frequent 3-5' drops) without a problem. I'm ~ 175lbs without gear, and run the firm spring. My only complaint is that it's not progressive enough, and bottoms fairly easily on big hits.
