I am clueless when it comes to rims...

I have an enduro that came with Sun SOS rims. Need to change the front hub over to to 20mm and I don't know if it is worth using the OEM Sun SOS that came with the bike. Rim is brand new.

I do have a DH wheelset that will go on for resort riding so these are not going to be abused that much, mostly trail riding with the occasional romp on the fun side of the mountain.

Is there a rim out there that is stronger and around the same weight as the Sun SOS? Should I just stick with this rim? Hub is a Hope Pro 2 20mm.

I think the SOSs weigh 520g if the OEM ones are the same as the ones on the sun website:

Sun MTXs are a nice balance between weight and durability....

If you are going to be mainly riding all mountain/light freeride, you could probably run a Single-Track.
I rode one for DH a couple of seasons ago. By the end of the year it was trashed, but it help up well for an entire season or riding/racing.

Those two choices look like pretty burly rims. Because I already have a DH wheelset I would want to go with a lighter, more trail oriented rim.

Any other suggestions?

Unless you want to go lighter, it is probably worth keeping the SOS.

Ended up going with an EX 719. Little lighter and should compliment my other wheelset which is built with D321s, the old ones.

Thanks for the input.

Guess to late but the Syncros DS 28 are nice my boy runs them hard all AM and FR stuff and they have held up all season and he is 165lb..

The 719 are nice and lite at 460gr I had them on my FSR XC Comp, I thought you wanted a AM/FR rim?

Singletrack or Rhyno Lite XL (welded) are both cheap, light, and decently strong. I've been running one or the other for years doing light FR/DH and never wrecked one. Not on a budget? DT Swiss 5.1s :)
