haha! smoked yea right. I crashed hard last race and had to take a dnf. You should look out for Sluck and Lovebunny's faster brother. They've really been thrownin the hammer.

Here's some insider info...

Sluck is riding a demo 9 and has been railing mammoth, murrieta, N*, Bootleg, and tunnel.. I think he's the one to beat.

for superD I know i'm gonna get beat on the climb, so i'm just there to say I did it and survived. I'm gonna have to do it again in feb cuz EdLubba's promised to do one too

dhmike
10-18-2007, 07:38 PM

yea, that was Sluck. I was the one who went missing on the second run cuz I jacked my knee. Sluck = Slow and Suck He really needs to change his name cuz he's no longer slow, and he no longer sucks... well maybe just a little

I've already accepted it... The only way I'm not gonna place last on super D is if someone crashes bad and takes their dear sweet time to get up... or has a mechanical...

my first race was my funnest

I thought you were talking about the last 20s of the course.

ultraNoob
11-01-2007, 09:40 AM
nah, Ozzer dubbed the last section "20sec of pain", that's the best part cuz you get to scream at pedestrians to GTF outta your way and then pelt them with rocks and gravel as you fly by

can anyone elaborate on the different class routes? I heard that the beginner bypassed some of the more rocky sections?

retrofred
11-01-2007, 12:16 PM
it all depends on what coarse that the southridge team decides on using. last year when i did this race they had everybody racing the same lines.

ultraNoob
11-01-2007, 12:26 PM
yup, I concur.... same lines as the pros (most of the time).... although not as fast, but the crashes made for some excellent photos. IT'S SO FREAKIN FUN!!! DO IT!!!!

Race in the ZA class. I will be in that class to try it out.
Hey, do you still have the XVert Carbon fork? Wanna sell it back for today's market value? :) Or I can trade you an older 03 Boxxer for it? If the bushings are shot, nevermind.

Thanks for the offer, but it would probably be more trouble than it's worth. It's tough enough dragging all my gear up there (and dealing with blowing dirt or rain) without adding a bike/helmet/armor and trying to get in a run.

bullcrew
11-12-2007, 01:15 PM
No worries. I put the 2.7 on the front today. Im getting tired of the front end washing out, granted the run behind my place is 4+ inches of loose stuff with crust almost straight down and rockier than He11.

Anyone have suggestions for riding the loose dirty here. NW Im set but this stuff wreaks havoc on me so far, blowing corners and sliding in the shale/pebbly stuff.

blender
11-12-2007, 01:19 PM
i've had good luck with the Michelin DH32 up front.. it's a 2.8, but not an overly large 2.8, so it seems just perfect. Works great in the loose sh!t like Mammoth, and the 'loose over hardpack' SoCal stuff.

What pressure? I assume a 20-25 should be suffice, I need to dial my kids bike in hes racing the 7-12 category. Saturday is his 12th B-day so hes excited to spend it racing for his first time. :thumb:

Cool I appreciate it as does the skin on my forearms.:D
I am definently above 40lbs with the DH tires on there. :D :D
Even tubeless its a good 3lbs heavier now and d@mn I can feel it.

OK heres the tire choice:
Kenda nevegal/bluegroove DH casings tubeless set up and a 2.7 front with a 2.5 rear.

Is this about right for how loose it is.
I figrue Ill run 20psi and adjust from there as well as dial the fork in.

This will be different in part that both you guys know I suck at the loose dirt. I wrecked 3 times on SJT and 1 at laguna. :D I figure run a bigger tire stiffer sidewall less pressure and see what happens.

This AIN'T the NW style dirt!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ed!!y your not going to have much comp as far as your class, I know how you ride you should fare really well. Abst, you and I are in the same boat. Your new to racing and I suck. :D

Hey, going down at Laguna is not hard to do. I can't tell you how many buds i have that have been hopitalized by that place, including myself. SJT when it's loose is slippery loose. Last time I rode Fontana it wasn't that kind of loose. You'll do fine.... just send it! Regardless should be a fun hangout.

Ill bring the 2.5 single plys though.

Might be the way to go, 300 yards of almost-flat pedaling along "the wall" to the finish will punish those with heavy tires.

A guy I know thought a short-track tire would be the ticket for the rear (semi-slick middle with side knobs), but then it rained that day and he had zero traction.

Ok...things keep going back and fourth. Well, one of my friends may have to bail out cuz he just broke the lowers on his fork today, so unless he finds a replacment (70% chance of that happening) then there would be room.

This all could have been solved if I would have bought a bigger truck! AHHHHH
