Congrats on your awesome deal but you don't have to be an ass hole. This was a shop purchase and is more than $2000 below retail. You want them to take a loss?

Sweet score. My buddy just bought an 06 7.7 on closeout for $2800. There must be a few overstock.

Awesome, you're going to love it. I have the same bike, and it is a great bike.

I already have an 05' with a 66RC2X. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna love it. In fact I'm swapping my Holzfeller OCTs, Minion DHFs, Codes, and Aircorps onto it. I might eventually swap my STS with a 36t on it. I'll stick it out with the DRS for a while. I might get sick of the shimano shifters and end up going with attacks but I'll try the xt setup for a while. I'm hoping the DT6.1s hold up if they don't it's getting EX823s.

Yea, ride the DT's till they die, then get some new rims. My front DT is actually still holding strong, but I'm on my 4th rear wheel. Busted two 6.1 FRs, and a DS28. Now I have an urban camo MTX on the rear, and it looks pretty sweet. Did your 7Point come with an XT derailleur? If so that's kind of odd, because they should come stock with Saint derailleurs and shifters. I am still running my saint with no issues, and I've been riding it for a year and a half now. I usually don't like Shimano, but the Saint holds up well. As for the DRS, those things are solid. I have not ONCE slipped or dropped a chain with it. The thing is just as good as any single ring guide. The latest upgrades to my 7Point have been a Dura Ace 9 sp road cassette, goodridge lines, and soon an '08 66 RC3:drool: I plan on shredding this bike till it dies!

Sorry for the huge post, I got a little carried away. One more thing: bookmark this forum post from MTBR: http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=336211

It gives step-by-step instructions to fix the linkage-play issue on the '06 7Points. I recommend doing it right off the bat before you get any play. I did it on mine and it worked perfect.

Okay an another even more impusive purchase I decided to deck it out before I've even ridden it. I decided to keep the Saint brakes but they're getting goodridge lines and straitline blades. It's getting EX823s with 14/15 DT Competitions in black on pro 2s. I want the Saint mech as I'm hard on derailluers. But I ordered Attack shifters. I decided to go with a Gamut P20 and 34t G-Ring. It's getting Gravity Light Cranksets. Straitline pedals, Ruffians with Straitline caps. A brand new Thompson X4 I have laying around (50mm). My 3C 2.5" Minion DHFs are going on tubeless. Oh and a TI coil. any other suggestions? I WANT NOTHING LESS THAN PERFECT.

Should be a nice bike. Don't forget the tassles!

Report back on those goodridge lines after you get some time on them. I'm curious to hear if they're a noticeable improvement.

It's gotten more absurd still.

I just ordered an Eastern Nightrain 26" and a crapload of new clothes.

Goodridge lines are awesome. I've been running them with my Saints for six months now, and they are definitely an improvement. If you got the cash, I highly recommend them. They are much more reliable and stronger than standard housing.

uh yeah, why shouldnt they take a loss? '08 models are almost all out and why should a store keep a '06 model at a high price

no it was rarely used for the season. the fella broke his rib i think (used to know the whole bit on why) but pretty much came down to he wasnt riding it but was managing a pro race team, and was sponsored by iron horse. hooked them up with some pictures and got a kick ass deal. it was never raced and only ridden a hand full of times, and was covered in clear packing tape so there was hardly a scratch on it. even came with upgrades

I've got a small arsenal of bikes with shimano brakes so I've been curious about them.

Thanks.

I noticed better modulation on my Hayes Mag's; It seemed as if they were more powerful, but it may have seemed so due to the better modulation/feedback.

Other benefits -

They look serious; if you care, your bike looks meaner and more high tech. (IMO!)

They are indestructible; I have spun bars, and even tried the ultra test - tied 4 reasonable tight knots in the lines and didnt notice any difference from unkinked. I smashed the bar fitting on a tree and it bent the master cylinder but was unfazed itself (the MC didnt leak, and worked fine until I drawered the brakes for some Codes)

Prior to that, during my DH learning curve, I wrecked 2 different lines hittin small trees and splitting or pulling the line, this isnt going to happen with Goodridge!

Ended up getting a White STS instead of the Gamut because of availability. It got a Ti coil too now. When I get everything I'll post pics. Still waiting on a few things. Mostly the wheels. I have the Gravity Light and I'm pretty impressed. They are less than 2 ounces heavier than XTR. Nuts. It looks very well-made, the inserts are nice, and it seems pretty solid. We'll see. I'm going to beat the crap out of it.

Im liking the Gravity Light on my new bike.

I had GR lines on my Fly and they were tough. I use to go through lines all the time until I got them.
