Now I rarely start posts in here but I just spent the better half of my day discussing this with friends and I have to say it was pretty revealing...any one have any opinions on it?
Show me a man or a woman alone and I'll show you a saint.
Give me two and they'll fall in love.
Give me three and they'll invent the charming thing we call 'society'.
Give me four and they'll build a pyramid.
Give me five and they'll make one an outcast.
Give me six and they'll reinvent prejudice.
Give me seven and in seven years they'll reinvent warfare.
Man may have been made in the image of God, but human society was made in the image of His opposite number, and is always trying to get back home."

The cop out at the end with god and the devil sucks. The observations are interesting and arguably valid (in a generic kinda way), but having taken the time to formulate them and then to fall back on such intellectual laziness is crap.

What, precisely, do you mean by "intellectual laziness"?

Blaming it on the devil, when in fact the problems are of our own design.

Whatever pagan.
Isn't it funny how many militant christian conservatives get down on drug addiction, medical funding for mental health issues etc., proclaiming the importance of personal responsibility yet claim to believe that da jeebus makes it all happen?

Not really. Militant christian conservatives typically aren't people who are noted for rigorous logical thought.

Obviously a psychotic murderer is capable of thought provoking spewings on logic.

First, not knowing the greater context of this quote, the reference to "his opposite number" could be figurative and could even refer to human weakness and shortsightedness to begin with.
Alternatively, it could just be someone's religious interpretation, which I would respect and call for further explanation in order to understand, but not immediately dismiss as mere laziness.

It's obviously not something from Plato or Aristotle. I think you're reading way too much into into it.

Come on man, don't you listen to the pixies?
"if the devil is six, then gawd is seven.................and man is five......and man is five"
Seven is the exact opposite of six. Just look at it in a mirror.
Five on the other hand.......well that's just retarded.

Seems to me that they just made up a bunch of stuff in order to spout their religous doctrine at the end. 4 = a pyramid? WTF is that?
And as for number two, what if they are both of the same gender, is it OK for them to fall in love then? Somehow I don't think that the person who wrote this would approve.
:poster_oops:
You wanna have Faith, cool... good for you. Just keep it to yourself.

That is an awful lot of assumption going on based on very little text- apparently, if someone mentions God or Satan or anything of that nature they are unjustly spouting off "religious doctrine," are homophobic and have an obligation to not say anything about religion in case your precious ears might hear.
