There has been talk all summer about the September report on the Iraq war and it seems like nothing has come of it. I watched some of the testimony, but politicians had been talking big game about what they would do if the wars weren't going well, but I haven't seen movement in any direction. Seems like its more "stay the course"

The idea of the September report came to fruition when General Patraeus off-handly asked if Congress would like a public situation report. The reason that it didn’t change anything is because the Military, State Department, etc., are continually updating Congress and the President on the status over here. So they were tracking everything he said. The only difference with this one was that there were tons of cameras around, because of all the hype generated around a report that really didn’t say anything people didn’t already know.

Well, stay the course, but have to go through a forced drawdown, because we don’t have enough Soldiers to keep up “The Surge”. It is going to get VERY lonely here when those five Brigade Combat Teams (BCTs) leave, with no backfill next Spring.

There was supposed to be a September Report co-written by the Iraqi govt, but (no lie) they took August off cuz it was too hot to work.

Yeah I know, that was a big deal. Tony Snow said "Well its hot in August", then a reporter was kind enough to point out that our soldiers are kicking doors in, in that heat. Thanks for the info MarinRoo

No problem.

Here is some more info. It is very hot here. In the driver’s seat of the Stryker (next to the engine block), my driver once recorded a temperature of 147 degrees.

But on the plus side, it is cooling off. It hasn't broken 100 in the past 3 days. However, that means the rainy season is coming and rain + Iraqi dust = concrete on your boots, in your room, on your equipment.. etc.

Man, that is nasty. I remember it hitting 148 on the water in the Gulf with no wind. I don't miss that one bit.
