Anyone have any good recommendations? I am wanting to put the single speed back on the front of my Big Hit and am looking for a compatible Chain Guide System for it. Right now I have the Truvative Hussefelt Cranks as pictured. Any pointers would be great. Also if there is a place online to see the one you recommend. Thank you.

e13, gamut, mrp, even blackspire all make solid guides. You really can't go wrong buying a chainguide anymore. Maybe check with your frame manufacturer to see if they recommend a specific guide.

I looked at my bike Specs and it shows that it came with a ISCG guide. I am not sure what that means. Anyone?

just get an ethirteen and be merry.

Seriously.

They work FLAWLESSLY if you follow the directions. Why bother with anything else?

I update this comment ever time I'm asked, but so far, the SRS on my Scream hasn't dropped a chain EVER in 1 year and 10 months.

ISCG = international Chain Guide mounts i believe is what that means. All that mean is you dont need to run the ISCG adapter on your BB and it just bolts to your frame.

I would recomend a E 13 SRS i own 2 and love them both and are thinking about getting a LG1

if you dont bash a lot of rocks w/ your chainring, you might want to look at the e13 lg1. It's lighter than the srs, and mine works very well, haven't lost my chain all season. Go-ride.com is where i got mine from, but your local shop will be able to get one too, and you wont have to pay shipping then.

I have to throw in another vote for the SRS.
Easy to install, even on my Karpiel (which is really saying something).
Never drops the chain, quiet, can't ask for more!

This is so true.

I love hearing everyone act like the fact that they have a functioning chainguide is unique to the brand they own.

I guess there are different views of what "functioning"means, but hey, I feel that way for sure, but if I didn't, we'd probably all still be riding with two 3mm thin aluminum plates next to our chain. To each his own I guess.

It's important to note this part of Fulton's quote though.;)

Until you kicked mrp et al. in the ass, yes.....chainguides sucked.

Even if you want to look at most modern guides as a ripoff of what you guys did, there are still a lot of very functional guides in 2007. I've got no problem admitting your obvious role in that but I own an e.13, a gamut and a blackspire, and as far as keeping my chain on, all three have perfect records.

To me 'functioning' just means I haven't thought a damn bit about the thing after I put it on:D They've all worked in exactly the manner they were designed. It's a good time to be in mountain bikes:)

Another rec for the SRS from E13, simple setup and its pretty light, beside the Big bash guards look awesome. You could also go for the new Custom limited Seafoam!!!! Yeah right just kidding there, anyways E13 makes a great product, I like both there SRS and DRD systems, I run the Drs on mine, here is the pic, has a Black guard now

Nope, thats a 40, cut down 1/4 inch to fit the 38 better, seeing how E13 doesnt make one for a 38, I cut it on My lathe

PS. thats a 24 small ring int he pic, shifts great belive it or not, with the Azonic DH 38

The new Gamut P-20's, 30's, and 40's are pretty sick. When I raced on a Specialized Big Hit I ran the P-40 with a 38-tooth ring with no problems. Now I am on the P-30 and P-20 as they are smaller chainring specific guides and suit the courses and low bottom brackets of today. The guides are very light with a bashguard. The bashguard can take a pretty good licking too, but if you are a total hack you may want to go with a thicker bash.

Hope this helps,

Evan

I never thought about before. You single-handedly (single-assedly?) crapped on MRP's monopoly-sized market share of the chain-guide market.

Damn thats a lot of hyphens.
