Just got word from Hecker that he's been given the green light to start a MTB park at the Chamberlain ranch in Los Olivos. Nothing is finalized yet but it will be a club membership deal, appearantly it will be open to non-members for a fee. The membership and daily fee need to be established still, I'll leave Mike to follow up on this.
This is good news. It will give us an opportunity to build and ride stuff currently unavailable in the area, like jumps, dropoffs, even northshore stunts. All construction would have to be approved and supervized, but still!
I've offered my assistance to Mike to gets things rolling. Things I'd really like to see are:
1. A dual slalom track. The terrain is perfect for one and and DS is rad.
2. A second DH track. The current track is cool, but I want something tougher and less groomed/bermed. A second course would also be great to have options for races.
The XC riding is pretty dialed there IMO. Not a ton do there but ride it year round so its buffed out:monkeydance:
This is a huge opportunity for MTB'rs in the area to step up our riding and give back to other riders. I hope you are as excited as I am:imstupid:
