Steerer tubes....and other oddities

Question for all you monkeywrenchs, does it make sense to buy a star-nut setter?:confused:

Of all the things I've built or fixed with bikes, I've never actually cut a steer tube and set the star-nut. I bought a pipe cutter for a clean swipe, but I'm not sure about buying a tool just to set the star nut. Whats up primates?

I think it helps for sure, but I've also used a spare bolt many..many..many. times with success. The tool is nice since it get's it set at the correct depth and keeps it straight, with the old bolt you have to eye it and try it a couple times occasionaly.

Yes, I have one in my tool chest.

Yeah, its pretty cheap so its no big deal, I was just curious....I'm dubious after building a home headset press....Ha! listen to me, one bolt with some washers, and I think I'm McGyver!:rolleyes: :D

You have to ask? Remember, its not possible to own too many tools. Or bikes for that matter.

I know, but some stuff is just unesseccary:eek: $$'s tight trying to finish Sista Kreep's bike, I need to save wherever I can;)
