Not that I am going to try this but I am wondering what would happen if mineral oil was used in a brake calling for a dot fluid

I've seen what happens when Hayes are contaminated with mineral oil. It's not pretty. The seals will eventually go and in the process, get all gummy and start to actually break down.

Thats weird, a couple of months a ago, there was a guy riding a 4pot XT callipers with hayes mag levers on mineral oil without any issues. I spoke to him and he said the hayes lever was stock standard with original seals.
I would have thought youd have the seal break down problem running DOT fluid in a mineral oil system rather then the other way round.

Works fine on the brakes I've tried it on. Like RaID said, the reverse will munt seals.

Oil and Glycol DO NOT MIX, its not a matter of when they will break down, but when. Doesnt matter if its a car bike motorcycle whichever, if you use the wrong fluid your system wont be ther for much longer. Just use what your brakes call for and do the job right, nothing like grabbing a handfull of nothing when you need there to be something.
