It is very probable that an upcoming rig will get the air treatment so I just wanted to pick some monkey brains about it. Yes, I have read the 10 page thread on the sl ata but would like to see what people think of it mid season. how has it held up? have you used the ata function? overall experience?

cheers:cheers:

but then it'll look like poo. what would be more beneficial for 08, does not look like a whole bunch of changes?

i was happy with mine until i rode it on a harder track and realized i wasn't getting full travel. vitox has some mod to get full travel, but seems zoki has adressed this problem for 08..so right now i m trying to get some sort of warranty deal to get a 08 catridge. the part of the travel that does work is really progressive, which should also change with a new catridge. i really don t care much since i'm still off the bike cause of an injury so i will just wait for the 08 catridge....if u need the fork NOW, don't buy it and get either an rc2x or a boxxer team if the first seems to heavy for you.
cheers

I like my fox 40 better then the 888 sl ata I put on the demo. But I go through fork lowers like bobby brown with blow. Overall I like the fork but I think for my next fork it wont be air sprung.

I guess I'm in a tiny minority, then, who actually likes his SL ATA. It kinda feels like crap in a parking lot test, but out on the mountain, I just kind of don't notice it. In my opinion, that's a good thing for a fork - it sucks up the bumps and never has any problems.

As for whether it gets full travel, I'm not sure. Again, I don't notice that it gets **too little** travel, so who cares whether it gets 8" or 7.5"?

I rather like mine also. My only complaint is the whole winding down in the travel on its own problem, but I think that should be warrantied. I never use the ata and I could see it being really great on a single crown, but I wish they had made a non ata version of the dual crown sl fork. Mine performs fine other than that. I didn't notice that I was getting less then full travel but it may well be the case.

I have been impressed with the performance of the 888SL. It is light and plush, with a bit firmer feel in compression than the coil 888.
I have had the usual issues with the SL however. The ATA will wind down on rough tracks and I couldn't get the last 20mm of travel.
I sent the fork back to have these issues addressed. Marz says they have fixed the problems and my fork is due back now any time. I'm interested to see if the problems persist of if they will be a thing of the past.
In reality the problems were a minor annoyance, the fork's performance outweighed the issues. After switching back to the coil 888 I have missed the firmer feel of the air sprung 888.
The 08s will address these problems, but they are still a ways away from being widely available.

It's just a set screw, open up the left side, and about halfway down the ata rod there's a little 4mm screw i believe, tighten it a little bit and it won't wind down.

I like mine alright also, but have noticed that I am not getting the last inch or so out of it - save for a single ugly case at Angelfire on the second road gap.

Check out Gemini's post below on the travel adjust winding down issue - I did this and it's easy - let the air out of the left side (upper then lower) use a cassette tool the remove the cap, find the (2) set screws and tighten them a little bit. I ended up tightening mine just enough that the travel adjust does not work - which is what I wanted. The whole fix shouldn't take more than 5 or 10 minutes.

I love mine. I'm also having the issue with the ATA winding down, but I haven't tried tightening the 4mm bolt as discussed above.

It's probably been mentioned above or in the other thread, but ignore the (minimal) info in the marz owner's manual. I weigh 185, and have been running 120psi in the lower chamber and 100 in the top for most courses. I know a lot of people running even less in the top . Mine gets full travel, without having done anything to it.

Once I got the air pressure figured out, no real complaints with mine on the trail. It's feeling pretty sticky in the garage, though. Anyone changed oil on theirs yet?

The sl has been the plushest dh fork i've had yet. It completely blows away my buddies boxxer and my old rc2x

but...

i have burped mine 5+ times rebuit it once and i can only get 7 inches of travel out of it. im running 105/85 for pressure and im 230 with gear.

I'm liking the SL overall, nice small bump and ramps up nice on the hits. I don't really get full travel on a pure dh rocky trail but throw in a drop and sure. My dust marks were about as close as I wanted them in Sol Vista and I've def. felt the bottom out a couple of times.

I'm running 110/90 and got full travel out of mine today...
